lol

If alpha with AC2s is so much better then macro-chain-fire why then everybody wants to macro-chain-fire eh? And AC2s recycle in 0.5 seconds... if you are so awesome you can torso twist side and back inside those 0.5 seconds, well ...

I soooo want to believe that you use macros for the 'cool sound' but sorry, I just can't.

I do use them just for the cool sound, no matter how you do it each ac 2 can only fire every 0.5 seconds so if you have 5 and do the macro properly you are firing 5 ac 2's staggered over 0.5 seconds meaning 10 damage per 0.5 seconds or 20 damage a second, if I alpha 5 ac 2's that's 10 damage initially then I wait 0.5 seconds and fire again, that is also 10 damage being output every 0.5 seconds or 20 damage a second. Now please tell me where the macro gives you the advantage here.

good poll. Devs don't understand how arbitrary 0.5 seconds is.

not only are they not reworking chainfire to be more flexible and useful. They are basing another entire system, huge gamechanging system i might add, on the arbitrary 0.5 seconds.

I can do what the AC/2 macro does by hand.

was trying to remain as neutral as possible so people wouldn't spend half their time attacking the OP and we could get a real debate that might lead somewhere.

so far it seems to be working well. besides Odins Fist (no surprise there), we have gotten even discussion over the subject and no one is wasting time telling me over and over that i am wrong. i call this a win.

i think the arbitrary 0.5 seconds is a direct response to all of the pinpoint alpha complaints. i would like to see it in action first before talking about how it definitely will or will not work. jump jet shake had many more effects on the game than i had ever predicted it would (most of the changes have made me very happy). the terrain physics have also done amazing things to the mix of mechs on the field. there has been a large shift away from the whole assault warrior mess that went on before, it could still be much better, but these patches have had much farther reaching effects than i would have ever expected.

Can you do it consistently for an entire match? Does it break other people's framerate when you do it by hand?

with a little practice lining up 4x AC2 by hand within a 0.5 second time frame shouldn't be very difficult. back in my world of warcraft days i had combos that were just as time sensitive and had to be set off to within a tenth of a second. you only have to do it once, then you just hold down the alpha key and the refire rates take care of the rest.

the only limiting factor i see here is ping rate and general reliability of your connection.

The limiting factor is skill vs automation. Anyway, the main problem IMO is the framerate drop, not the macro itself. 5 FPS for a few seconds can be deadly for a light mech, for example.

If you have nothing to say on the actual subject go **** your AC2s in another topic.

It is NOT about DPS. It is about the fact that if you use normal fire you hit the target every 0.5 seconds. He gets his cockpit rocked every 0.5 seconds, and thus he has those 0.5 seconds to aim his shots. Now if you use macro-fire you hit him once every 0.125 (4 AC2s) or 0.083 (6 AC2s) seconds, leaving him no time whatsoever without cockpit shake. That IS an advantage when your enemy can't aim back at you. The effects of that screen shake can be different. On some systems screen just goes black due to some bugs or whatever and a person getting fired by AC2s can't see anything at all.

Read my post just above.

Cool story bro.

If you can't do it manually, then you shouldn't be able to macro it. If you want to chain fire 4 ACs then chain fire them instead of having your mouse or keyboard simulate it for optimum performance.

If you know there have been hundreds of threads about this issue, why create another one?

PGI has stated categorically that they do not have an issue with macros because they do not alter gameplay on their end.

They state that it does not give any player a significant advantage over another and is not affecting their servers like an aimbot would.

Therefore they do not consider it cheating.

So make yourself a choice, go buy a keyboard or mouse that you can create and use macros with, or simply step away from the subject...

Good to be back. Been on a long camping trip that I usually take in June.

I saw where you were going with the poll... it was just the first one I came across on my first day back on the forum, and I just had to pee on it.

I did a test.

River City

4x AC/2s Alpha strike till the mech overheated. 80 rounds fired.

4x AC/4 Macroed 72 rounds till mech overheated.

And for the record. Chain Fire is a macro.
