I tryed to discuss this at the "Ballance" Forum, but it didnt got alot response so i guess it should be head into this Forum and see if someone grabs the Idear.

I dont realy need to write alot, MWO and the Battletec Universe already has different type of Armor, the real bennefit of the Ferrofibrit cant be just the 1,4t of saving weight for the 14 Slots it takes.
Ferro should also add a bunch of resist to all energy based Weapons.
Reactive should add a bunch of resists to all ballistic based Weapons.

You will never be able to please everyone by just tweaking or nerfing the Weapons, put them into a state where it "feels" ok for YOU and then add the Armor to the game.

For those who think it should only be done after all weapons are ballanced let me tell you this...
...it will never happen.

Even if you are able to find the "Holy Grail" and ballance every Weapon to everyone´s liking, as soon as you add the Armor it will all fall apart again.

Different armor means:
  • much lesser "Boats" ... why? because you dont have the slots anymore to put in like 8 Large Laser, 6 PPC or 4 Gauss
  • You give Peoples the Tools to react on popular Mech-Loadlouts like all those PPC Builds.
  • You reward all those Pilots who not run on those cheap Loadouts.

Well i hope someone beside me get to this Point and throws it onto the Dev´s Table.

so long...

I also think that the armor types:
reflective, standard or ferro fibrous. reactive could be interesting ....

You can hope for more protection vs. PPCs while installing reflective armor. While there is no meele there are no cannon draw backs, so the reduction of armor points per ton have to be how it has to work:
so reflective and reactive armor = 28 points of armor per ton
ferro fibrous is just light weight armor = 36 points of armor per ton
