With the new heat scales coming, a lot of people will be needing a way to
map extra weapons groups to their mouse. If you are like me, you hate using number keys to fire as they take your fingers off the turn keys. A lot of people have only 2 button mice, so I came up with a way to turn a 2 button mouse with scroll wheel into a 4 button mouse, triggering off either the up or down scroll action.

You will need http://www.autohotkey.com/ to run this, and the program will need to be run as administrator, but it works really nicely and should stop you shelling out for a new mouse =-)

#SingleInstance Force
#InstallMouseHook
#InstallKeyBDHook

#IfWinActive ahk_class CryENGINE
WheelUp::

send {3 down}
sleep 85
send {3 up}
return

WheelDown::

send {4 down}
sleep 85
send {4 up}
return

If you're gaming with a $7.00 OEM Logicrap mouse, then you're already doing it wrong... :)

I'd rather PGI added support for mice with more than 5 buttons.

You can just alter the actionmap.xml file to map scroll up and scroll down to anything you want. You don't need a separate program for such a basic thing.

I have one (cheap crap), and it's working fine for mapping all 5 buttons.

I don't need no fancy mouse. I have a 5 dollar generic mouse than came with my comp.

11 buttons, fully progarmmable, included software $25.00 on sale.. $25.00 is pretty cheap for a good mouse.

Lots of people I know use that mouse and love it but I bought one a year ago and hated it. I used it for a couple of months and the extra buttons are definitely nice, but I could not get used to the size or weight (I prefer larger and heavier) so I sold it to a friend at a loss. The ideal mouse varies so much on a personal level that I would always try before you buy and go with your gut. I thought I could get used to the Naga after using a friends but I just never did.

it's one of the rare occasions where left handed players are at an advantage... arrows + del/end/pagedown combo makes having 5 groups very easy to use.

Are you sure? it does everything I need it to do with two buttons and a mousewheel. Plus iirc Koreanese used a cheapo mouse too.

ESDF gives easier access to far more buttons.

Just buy a Logitech G600 and G13

G600: 3 buttons on top for 3 groups and 12 for your thumb.

G13: Program all your buttons for max comfort and speed.

Yeah i'm completely sure.. A 5 to 6 button mouse seems to be the the breaking point between good and not as good.

Regardless of who pulled of what with what... I killed a Deer (Doe) with a .22 once, yeah you have to be a good shot, but come on, a .22..?? Kids do dumb things, I can tell you now I don't hunt with anything less than a .308 or .30-06...

People can practice with all kinds of tools that are not the best tool for the job, and still get good with them.

JA..!!! I remember my first mouse.

Not disagreeing with that point but I do not think it gives an advantage over ESDF. The only serious lefty PC gamer I know uses a Notsromo with his right hand though. He also plays a ton of games at a very competitive level using a trackball, not sure if that is related to his freakish left-handedness or not.

Really this is all you would need for MWO, I don't own it, but know someone that swears by it.
It's not expensive, but it doesn't have to be for MWO.
