So I get that people hated SSRMs because they were a "no-skill" weapon or thought that they were op because they always hit the CT/RT/LT. While I don't agree with the second point I can see where people who make the arguement are coming from. I don't understand why they changed them the way they did. For one, you'd have better CT/RT/LT or leg, depending on what you're aiming for, accuracy if you were using a pinpoint weapon and were a terrible shot just swiping all over the place. They seem like a lackluster choice for new pilots and downright pointless for experienced pilots now. On top of all that, they're still a no-skill weapon, just a bad no-skill weapon now. The only possible reason i can think for making them like this is so that the CSSRM4/6 are balanced when they come out. But even then, why do it months before those weapons are in the game and make the only SSRMs we do have terrible? There has to be something I'm missing. Anyone care to shed some light on it?

... Because they all but totally guaranteed a hit... the fact that they would be nerfed has been known for months.

The clan SSRM-4 and SSRM-6 will be fine like this, but as it is the hardpoint restrictions and the total number the SSRM-2 fires is just too little damage to spread like that.

But you are right, its a bad choice for new pilots, and right now its severely lacking in the intended anti-light role.

New system is new? and they want to put it in with balanced numbers and *test* it large scale to make sure it's working properly?

This is still Beta you know ... and they can always go back and change the weights around later once it's stable.

a for sure hit on the legs when you're aiming CT might as well be a miss TBH

They're like normal SRMs that do much less damage and have a homing system which makes them automatically miss any vital parts of the target. Well worth the extra tonnage...

If you want aimable missiles so you can attempt to instagib the CT of a mech take normal SRMs, if you want missiles that lock and hit a moving target without precise aiming but will still do decent damage so you can focus on other weaponry take SSRMs .

Im sorry but hitting moving targets always in the center torso with the easier to aim/hit streaks is a thing of the past.

Currently the largest number of SSRMs we can mount on a single mech is 6 SSRM2s.go and take this out for a try it's still a significant amount of damage that is bordering on automatic due to ease of locking and tracking.

Now let's think about a Clan SSRM6 or more precisely 4 (2 steakcat's worth) of them backed by a pair of Clan ER-PPCs and That is a Timberwolf D that I bet will become very popular.

It is a needed change to keep the monstrosity of the Timberwolf D in check.

you all keep forgetting this is an SSRM2 - the small laser of missiles.

wait for the SSRM4 and 6 for the big mechs to come.

That was never their role. Their role is to be an ammo-saving alternative to standard SRMs.

Hehe love this comment. That is exactly how I feel about them now. Used to use them alot because they were light weight and moderately effective against any any I fought be it Lights or Assaults. Now they are ONLY useful against lights and may even be a buff against lights since I kill most lights by first taking out the legs anyway and now the Streaks can actually target legs.
