At least I don't feel silly now running SRMs, even to the point I don't get surprised when the SRMs manage to finish off mechs. I even managed to kill a few lights with SRMs, which really didn't happen often a few weeks ago. It also feels like hit detection is better after this patch.

No, the people complaining are the ones that aren't playing at the bottom of the barrel and have seen the total effect is....nothing - bar a lot more complexity added with no rhyme or reason
45 alpha the face still reigns.

At least pugging is fun again. I'm still not touching 8 mans with a 10 foot pole though. I know exactly what sort of **** storm that's going to be because it was a pinpoint ghetto even before the pugs caught on.

I brawled in almost every game I played today. Except a few that were lrm battles. It was good to see srm's really back in the mix.

I'm debating whether to run 2 SRM4s on my Jenner or 2 SSRM2 + BAP.

Before it was a no brainer, but now there's a choice. More kaboom or easier aiming + ECM canceling... Can't decide.

Either way, more viable choices = better for the health of the game.

The three matches I took my Centurion out in I got 400+ dmg and 3-4 kills each without particularly trying. Seems like it's working.

I have had some amazing and huge brawls in fact so far tonight they have been rather common. I am talking 6-10 mechs all in a 150-200m area duking it out brawls.

Had about five or six games tonight in my cent all were fun and competitive, srms feel right as far as i can tell ppc/erppc boats are arent terribly common , did not see any ac40s out thankfully. game overall for now felt far more fluid and more importantly fun

After killing a third mech in a row it was just an injured Atlas left, but I was red CT so he got me first. This was in a 4sp with 2 srm6, 1 medium laser and a, you guessed it, 1 LPL. I'm having fun.

Post patch matches have been more fun, and there has been more brawling, but let us not mistake the cause of this. The new heat scale system has had little to no impact on the shift in tactics. I still see quite a few PPC builds and they are being pretty effective. The difference is that srms don't completely suck any more and people are rushing out to with them for variety sake. Srm buff is a success, heat scale not so much. As predicted.

I've been running with my new cicada, 4MG and an ERLL. I've killed 2 mechs with just MG's.

I'd say this patch is ok. a few new bugs, but improvement!

Mwahaha, so my DS build others called useless (despite averaging 500-600 damage and min. 1 kill a game), is now even better, and my SP is viable with SRMs again? Me thinks I can forget how disappointed I am with this game (matchmaker mainly) for a while.

I definitely see an increase in brawling though I kind of wish it wasn't all hinging on the effectiveness of a single weapon. LRMs are darned scary and at times difficult to counter, but I'm not really sure what aspect is to blame. I'm looking forward to the next patch to see what kind of changes they address.

Seeing as ive only been playing for 3 weeks now, today has been really fun. Because I dont run the meta ive always been blown away while using my balanced builds. Today I had several 4& 8 man drop that had majority brawls. There were some PPC boats and plenty of lrms still flying, but utilizing actual tactics was made much easier for whatever reason which ended with some serious furballs.

Builds I used.
Jager-DD: 2 Ac/10's, 4mg's, 2 ml's
Atlas- RS: Ac/20, 2 LL, 2Ml, 2 srm6's
Cataphract 3D: 1 Gauss, 1 mg, 4 mls

Hoping to go back and buy my catapult and either buy my hunchie 4P or 4G back or start trying out Centurion aswell as light mechs.

As a new guy its nice to run balanced builds with a better chance at success then my first week of being blown to pieces.

I can say that in my srm stalker or srm d-dc i could kill any ppc boat before this srm patch. Now i can kill 2-3 of them at a time lol. I am just happy that my stalker is strong again, before i had to be insanely careful when i saw two mechs. Now i have to be careful but still have a good chance of winning the brawl.

EDIT: Brawling was viable pre-patch you just had to walk behind cover on approach. But now you can stick to cover and dominate them. I will admit that the sniper meta is dumb as **** but its because of people like you. You wait and see what weapon is strongest and then boat it. Instead of choosing a way you want to play and having fun. I am competitive but if you are good you can still win with bad weapons.

Using your brain to survive and strike where it hurts is OP man. Brawling isn't viable because it's too "hard".

Been seeing games with damage scores higher then prepatch. Seems to me, fast pinpoint kills has decreased a bit.

Tennex, something has been bothering me for a while not.

Didn't you used to be FRR or Marik?

As for the topic. My Jenner D is having an awesome time with the new SRMs, and seeing all the victors and mixed builds means I'm much more survivable, which is bad for the enemy team.

Streaks actually still sorta still scare me because of the leg damage now.
