As the HSR and the lag shield issue is addressed... I think that the actual impact of speed needs to be considered.
The issue with light mechs, since closed beta, has been the lag shield(and issues with hit detection and HSR since it's introduction)..
As the issue with HSR is hammered out to allow for reliable 'hitting' of the target that you hit on your screen... I think that the speed of light mechs need to be addressed(particularly the artificial limit on lighter light mechs).
The strength of light mechs has always been and should always been the speed of the mech. Once the mech can reliably be hit once your weapon actually makes contact with the mech, the effects of speed needs to be increased. This way, good shots(aka the skillful) will still be able to hit light mechs but light mechs can still take advantage of it's strengths to overcome the weakness of low armor.
(and this ins't saying that it needs to happen now, since HSR is still not working properly... only that this needs to be considered as the reliability of hitting light mechs is increased.... hit detection has been off for so long that we can't really predict how well speed is a tradeoff for armor).

Expect them to revert to the original 1.4 multiplyer for lights once hit detection and netcode are sorted...
Don't hold your breath tho!!
My 5V @ 180-200 kph will be exciting!

MASC is coming out with the flea so I would assume when it does the netcode has been judged well enough to handle the increased speeds.

I really enjoy my 2MPL 5V and 3MPL+ECM 5D at 150km/h
Bring on more speed, I can't wait to try pushing 200
