I also equip 2 PPCs (or ERPPCs) with Gauss, but I DO NOT alpha strike with all three. Instead, I group the PPCs into secondary, with Gauss as my primary, and fire both groups alternatively. For some reason I am having more success with the Gauss and PPC in seperate groups as opposed to a single fire alpha group. Maybe my mileage with yours differs. I also equip 2 PPCs or ERPPCs with an AC20 for alternative, or use 3 LLAS (sometimes 2 LLAS) with Gauss or AC20.

I played a few games last night and I really enjoyed the differences. I noticed it. Less super strike alpha explode in 1 hit deaths.

Of the games I played all were close, all lasted a while AND people brawled... brawled.

Maybe I got lucky and had evenly matched teams, but I think that the change is working alright so far.

(maybe I'm a little bias in this regard as I never had a AC40 jag or 4/6PPC stalker)

Playing ac40 Jag, haven't noticed any troubles after patch.
Glad to play 5srm/4ml/1mpl stk - 85 alfa with no shutdown, than focusing spot with mpl ml divided on 3 groups. - than cooling down.

interesting. I run this on 1 build?

I find it somewhat boring, though versatile. Just wish that my Special K would let me roll an AC20 instead of the Gauss.

I think 2 x PPC and Gauss should be left as is, its a viable sniping build but it has its weaknesses, especially as SRM's are now viable again.

I use it on a few mechs for stand-off style play but due to the projectile speeds its not an alpha-killer unless someone is stupid enough to stand still and look at you, in which case they deserve it no matter what weapons I'm toting.

How about instantly giving a gauss 1 hp damage if you go over 100% heat? :)

Sig link!! group weapons by dmg ranges, having both the ac/20 and gauss as 1 fired before penalty.....

also remove the shift toggle from arm lock. Means enable it in options and suffer the aiming restrictions, or leave it off and have to manually line both up

The combo is fine imo. It may very well be the new FOTM, but the damage is easy to spread, and the build is limited by both heat and ammo. The only reason it was a problem before was because of poptarters.

I can live with Gauss builds. They have a good amount of downsides that compensate for their range and low heat. 15 tons, 3 health, 90% chance to explode for 20 damage, and requires ammo.

Once you knock out the Gauss there goes about half their damage. If they were using normal PPCs, and you're brawling you will take out almost all there effective damage.

Huh, I guess I'm not standard. I don't run gauss + PPC. Until I get a Banshee, then the 5S runs' that by default (I think).

And I don't think they are a problem at all, different speeds, only 35 point alpha (for 2 + gauss) that isn't always gonna hit the exact same spot. No big deal far as I'm concerned.

How about you, and the community generally, learn to deal with types of play you don't agree with? Find a counter?

Why are you so insistent on nerfing everything?

Besides 2PPG/GR was around for months on the JJ 3D with no issues. If you can't deal with that configuration you can't deal with anything.

It was around but it wasn't prevalent due to the PPC boating ability. This setup is now the standard alpha boat because the problem the boated PPCs had was not resolved.

Its not the heat, its the instant, perfect convergence.

As long as you can put instantly applied damage (PPC/Projectile) into one armor location with multiple weapons that do 10 or more damage, you will have this imbalance.

Why do you think 6 LL stalkers were not even considered or used as a 'boat' before despite having less heat cost and more functionality? They do not apply their 9dmg per gun instantly in one place. The 1s lase almost always ends up spread in multiple sections. Thus, its useless as an I-Win massive damage snapshot alpha build.

I wish the whiners would have to balls to be honest with themselves and everyone else. You just hate getting sniped, so you want all sniping removed from the game.

They have different travel speeds. At distance against moving targets they tend to hit in different boxes.

2PPCs and a Gauss Rifle Standard Equipment

2PPCs and a Gauss Rifle are starting to become standard equipment for Atlas, Cataphract Jagermech, Highlander & Victors. As the new dominant no risk Alpha Strike.

I think it is about time Gauss Rifles were included with PPCs and ERPPCs in a single heat scale category called (EMP weapons).

I prefer Gauss and 2 Large. Better heat. There are Canon Mechs with that very build.

Their loss.

Honestly I still don't get this facination with these sort of builds. They really aren't all that effective, at least not in PUG environment.

I am not a fan of 2 PPC's and a Gauss

....

I much prefer 2 Gauss and a ERPPC.

It is very effective.

Yes, combining high-heat energy weapons with a low-heat ballistic should be penalized! How dare you try to synergize your weapon loadout! #ifitkillsmeitmustbeop #yoloswag #paulsidiotheatthing

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't this been the dominant long-range weapon config for quite some time? I was on a hiatus for a couple of months (and who knows what hilarity PGI unleashed on an unsuspecting playerbase during that time period) but at least a couple of months ago this was considered to basically be the go-to for long-range.

Nah, you missed the glorious times of 3 PPC + Gauss, 4 PPC and 6 PPC boat domination we had the last months. Turned the whole meta into a giant sniping campfest (which was even worse before they nerfed Jump Tarding some time ago).
2 PPC + Gauss is relatively harmless compared to that.
