I've all of a week of experience, so for some this is nothing, even an average game, but for me, it was my first moment in MWO where I just stared at the screen in amazement of what I had done.

I've had some embarrasing moments of letting my team down when I'm the last man, trying to duel someone or multiple somethings and getting my *** handed to me while my team spectates. Or not capping fast enough, or forgetting I'm the last man and trying to fight when we were at like 730 resources and dying.......

It was River City at night, conquest mode in my Jenner-F with 6mlas, 3jj, 13DHS, endo and ferro, the usual build for one of those. I'm sure I'm in a bracket full of terribads, but eh.......
The match starts poorly, a guy asks right off how to set weapon groups. We start off in 2 blobs but eventually fracture all over the place like the n00bs we are. No one was able to find the enemy at first, until I took a large laser to the face and foud most of them in the b2 area. At that point I think about three different team-mates attempted to take "command" using the battlegrid. I sneak around the edge of the map along with someone piloting a Dragon. We both take pot-shots and I race in and around buildings to line up and peel away after firing. I take a few hits from an AC-5 to the side, get licked by medium lasers of an enemy Jenner, and realise that now there are about 4-5 enemies in the area. I decide to bail and head back towards base or a friendly, but I can't escape safely, no matter where I turn suddenly, theres an enemy much bigger than me rounding a corner, apparently the other team figured I was an easy priority target since I was near thier base. The path I used to get there had a Jager in my face, the water leading away from the base had a catapult in it, and there was an Atlas actually in thier base. The enemy jenner was still running around somewhere, and a Cent was hitting me in the back.

Somehow using jumpjets and buildings, I get away from all this and drop under the bridge and start meandering around the rocks towards the rest of my team, now at critical damage warning, and then suddenly our base is being capped, so I go help with that, thankfully we had two guys already there who never really left the base, so that was an easy job. Right then, an LRM swarm fells a friendly mech about 10 feet in front of me, I **** of course, and realize at that point its just me and that other guy who was near our own base, so basically I left him to die seeing as we were outnumbered 4-2 at that point and figured with him as a bigger target I could maybe cap for the win. I make it all the way back to the enemy base and start capping, I get halfway done and see that my lone teammate went down but took someone with him, by the time I hit 60 percent or so that Centurion is back, I jet out of the way and avoid an alpha strike circle around the block and hit him with one of my own. But now a Stalker has showed up, and the Jager from earlier. I'm boned at this point, I see a few preliminary "gg"s go up. But apparently my team had damaged all three remaining mechs pretty well, I know I had hurt that Centurion earlier several times and had nicked the Jager and Stalker too at the beginning. At first they didn't seem to take me seriously, the Cent was still following but the Stalker is just sitting there in the base and the Jager has turned his back to me and is walking to the base to join the stalker. I fire all 6 lasers to the rear CT and take the Jager down, he must have been really hurt. I keep going and use the base itself on my left to block myself from fire from the stalker, then break right behind some buildings to evade the cent. I wheel back around and now realize I only have water on my left, as I make what I think is my last right turn and the base comes into view, I fire all 6 again at the Stalker and take his right arm off, his other shots miss. But I don't wanna go toward the stalker, so I drop off the pier near where that boat/aircraft carrier is sitting in the water and I get stuck on the stupid boat!

I see someone chat "lolz", but again I manage to point myself out towards the water and drop just a few feet, which is enough to mitigate most of the SRM splatter that the Cent just fired at me broadside, I guess my head was ok or my left arm, because my CT would have been done for. But again, I'm free! I run right past the left arm of the cent and keep going firing another 6 lasers at said arm, a jump turn left and I again miss the stalker shots from between two buildings, I take that opportunity fire and only 3 lasers hit the stalker, the others get blocked by the building, so I risk it and just angle toward its right arm that I blew off and away a little towards these squat little warehouse units back by the boat I got stuck on and pray my weapons recharge, they do and I plant all 6 into his CT and it goes down, but I overheat! I resign myself to defeat, but somehow those little warehouses and the fact I was slightly angled to my left meant the Cent took his free shot but nailed my right arm instead of my CT, with some of his shots scraping the top of the little warehouse. I'm still alive. I boot it forward and make for taller buildings, I jump turn around one and then immediately turn between two more and am now sort of face to face with the cent but hes angled just a little to the right, I start to back up between the buildings and apparently did so just enough that half of his shots hit the building and the others don't kill me. I push back forward between that gap, this will be my last shot regardless I decide, and again plant all 6 into his CT. It slumped to its knees and and was spent. I couldn't believe it. Neither could anyone who stuck around to watch. "Seriously, did that just happen?" typed one flabbergasted spectator, "See I told you Jenners are OP!" said another, and everyone else pretty much congratulated me. Sorry this is too long cause I don't have a video or screenshot. 3 kills 4 assists and 597 damage. That ties my record in kills and is 3rd highest in damage done, but by far my most outstanding match overall. I'm sure you veterans get this at least once a day but for me its still a novel thing.

Good read! I think that this illustrates the greatest joy you can get. The fact that you are getting better has always been an enjoyable part of playing these styles of games.

Congratulations on the game mechwarrior! Here's to many more in the future.

Cheers,
Greywolf

I would disagree that that is an average game. Sounds very, very good to me. And after only a week!
Salute, MechWarrior.
May your engines stay big and your legs undamaged.

Great read, much enjoyed!

And as others have said, not all that common at all. I've had one similar experience that was just over the top for me too but that was months ago.

In my Dragon, last one on my team on Frozen City against four of them. Luckily they were all beat to hell too and split up a bit. So I played hide-n-seek for a good while around the C3 area on their side of the dropship, below the tunnel opening. I killed one of two Cataphracts as well as one of two Atlai while getting beat up a good bit in return, but not enough to fully puncture a torso and pop my XL.
I then left the one Atlas still in somewhat decent shape as the second Cataphract went back to our base trying to cap. Running at 100Kph I could leave the Atlas behind and finished of the last 'phract real quick as he was cored allllll over and just had to sneeze on the poor fellow. Then I just played tag in the city with the last Atlas with my two LPL (when they were still good) as he was out of ammo for whatever missiles and AC he was running. I was shaking after all that effort, so much so I had to hide behind a building for a good few seconds to calm down before taking on the last Atlas again as I was just too damn excited that I might actually be able to pull it off that I wasn't going to be able to hit anything if I didn't get my nerves under control... lol... Finished him off successfully to end an epic match and enjoyed a round of kudo's and grats from everyone also.

But that was in a Dragon. In a Jenner?? Hat's off sir! :D And your writing was far more entertaining too :P

Thanks for sharing KM. I'm also glad a few of you took the time to read my rambling account of what happened, and glad you liked it. Oh how I wish I had a way to record it, I was sleep deprived and my recollection wasn't perfect when trying to describe elements of the map and where I was going. I'm sure I wouldn't get away with that in a higher bracket, guys who can aim better wouldn't have let that happen but still......like you km I was quite literally experiencing a "gaming high", shaking with excitement, I HAD to type the story or else I just wouldn't have been able to sleep at all. I find these moments to be more and more rare the older I get. I experienced a few like that when I beat Dark Souls without summoning anyone, but this is the first one like that in months maybe almost a year.

I have a feeling I'll be able to pull off something epic on Frozen City as well especially at night. I love that map its perfect for my Jenner, all kinds of cover from LRM showers and lots of spaces for tight maneuvers, surprises, and escape routes with jumpjets. I consistently dole out damage figures in the 250-450 range on that map, its only a matter of time.........next time I'll do an even better write up and screenshot the end-game score. I would love to just post a video though but I don't know how to record myself playing.

Appogee, those were both EPIC matches! Especially that second one, just incredible really.

EDIT: No problem Geist Null, I always wait to title anything till the end in case something good pops into mind.
