I just thought it'd be interesting to point out that there doesn't seem to be much, if any, elo based matchmaking after about 10-11 PM PST. IF you are lucky, you will see maybe 1 match in 10 that does NOT go to the full 1 minute wait time until the MM system just grabs anyone not already assigned to a drop to fill out the one I'm about to start.
I'm sure this is due to the small numbers of people online that late, but still, I thought it was worth mentioning. Knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that any teammate not in your current 4 man WILL BE a complete moron, because all the "high ELO" players were put on the other team really makes you step it up a bit.

Can't really understand why you'd do that.
You've made an accurate assessment of the current state of the matchmaker. When there are not enough people online there is very little any match maker can do besides throwing people together in a match.
