Cap is part of the game, but must be the last option for a mechwarrior.

I 100% disagree. If you do not want to be capped by me, then try to take me down at your base ... if you even can.

Pure Death Match = Looking for the last player who powered down in an undisclosed location

I shouldn't feed the troll, but... there you fall exactly to the same pit as developers. "Lol one hides and powers down and there you search for it". Have imagination instead of copying existing ones, for god's sake. No one has said it has to be 100 % destruction of enemy mechs. IF it's tdm, unactive mech (i.e. no damage for x period of time, hiding etc) could "retreat" from the match. Come on, think about more realistic way - you can fight to death, or escape. Either forced or volunteer one. One battered light mech hiding from enemies, no one should give a **** about it.

Capping is, after all, something developers needed to quickly come up with when they released beta. Simple game mode, no imagination needed. It should be full release soon and they still haven't made anything new, which tells a lot. So far, lot's of ambition but zero percent of it materializes.

When current matchmaking is based on LUCK, meaning you can't decide who enters your team, it's not working. You have seven others with you and there you have it, take it or leave it. On a good day you have balanced team of lights and assaults, then reality hits you in next round when you have a bunch of meds and enemy premade lance of ECM lights and JJ Victors emerge. When there was tonnage -based matchmaking this wasn't as bad problem.

I have seen many games where the sole survivor (usually a light) only pretended to shutdown and hide. What he/she was actually doing was wait and see if the other side would simply cap or go for the kill. If it seemed like the enemy was going for the kill instead, the survivor powers up and looks for anyone isolated from the rest. If so, ...

It is a clever move sometimes, but mostly when the last mech tries it it's just prolonging the inevitable result. Lights have the luxury of moving fast around, and attacking isolated enemies if they want. But narrow thinking shouldnt restrict new game modes. I mean, how hard it would be to implement "quick battle" tdm mode as an option people could use... Without capping people could explore and use terrain more to their advantage, nowadays it's easy to guess where enemy is - because doing otherwise results to their defeat!

Which would be fine IMO as long as your team still gets the win based on more mechs or more overall damage or something. I think this game needs a TDM mode. I also think it needs random starting locations and single objective modes such as single cap somewhere near the center of the map.

Capping is legit, basically the whine is my team and I were dumb and don't want to think, so remove it.

sure capping can be annoying, when two teams, go for a cap race and one loses with neither team getting a kill, but it means a team that being slaughtered can have a chance at a few extra xp/cb, and if the other team are so dumb they didn't cover bases then though cookie.

as mentioned here your worried about a cap race stay at your base..and by golly :) scout, find the other team before rushing off on a fools errand

Only because it's the only option we have. Multiple caps or one cap - crap is still crap if you divide it to five pieces called gamma, sigma, epsilon, kappa and theta.
