I've run LRMs at a >1.5 win/loss and >2KDR pugging, 4mans and 8 mans, in Highlanders, Victors, Hunchbacks, Trebs and Catapults. From entry level Elo to competitive 8mans. When I took up Hunchies I was at entry level Elo, when I run them in a heavy/assault I drop with/against the names in the top 5 of contestants in tournaments. What that means for my regular Elo I dunno, but it's somewhere up from entry level.

If you're not getting that you're doing it wrong.

Know the map, NEVER be alone. EVER. If you're running off alone to 'provide support' you're dooming yourself. Stick at the back of your team, go where they go and provide fire support. It starts at range but it may end up being at 200m. Have either 2 ML or 2LL for a backup - anything less than that won't drive a harassing light off. Have TAG. Use JJs to keep lock. Use advanced target decay. Watch your team scouts; people can get drawn into chasing a Raven or Jenner out far enough from cover that if you tag them, fire, JJ and hold tag before they get into cover you'll get your missiles on target.

Don't get kill-hungry. LRMs are a support weapon. When someone gets to an orange CT, no armor and runs for cover, forget them. You see them out in the open again later, great! You're at your best however chewing on enemy snipers so they stay behind cover and allow your own team to advance.

Have 1 of your LRMs on a seperate fire group (mine's normally 4, which is my L-CTRL). You see a light harassing someone on your team? Drop an LRM on him and he'll pull off.

LRMs are a support weapon. Use them like a support weapon. In the current meta they are inferior in the most competitive 8man matches to a Highlander 732 with PPCs and Gauss, but otherwise they're a rock solid platform and work great now. They are better balanced than they've ever been.

Edited to add:

If you improve LRMs then players who are already good at LRMs will go back to pugging at a >5KDR. Pretty much you kill everyone, every game, until you drop in River City. Then you *might* lose if the other team is smart, which they are not always. Then you go back to killing everyone.

If you deem yourself a "support" mech, which is more often than not one that is boating weapons. You need to stay within 200-400 meters from your teammates. You could certainly extend that range a bit more if you're boating, but a faster mech.

Folks...this is not rocket science...

if you fail to understand how to avoid/ lessen the damage from lrms... flank etc.. and just plain run out in front of them... esp if there more then one..yes u will die..horribly.. the logic is no different then tryin to out run cluster bombs or rockets from a plane in a car... it going hurt when it hits u.

lrms when fired from multiple mechs unto 1.....ONE..target is going to take its toll...i don't care how much you cry foul..it just simple logic..

i am a primary lrm pilot....i've also died multiple times to trash lights and smart flankers that manage to get on me..or focus by other lrm boats..i been on the receiving and giving ends of lrms...AT THIS TIME LRMS ARE JUST FREAKING FINE..prob bout the closes your going..

now on to CT dmg from art4 lrms ... maybe im looking at this wrong or misunderstanding how artemis works..but exactly where in ur mech is the hottest, technological piece of equipment ? ......

Well, if those boats aren't carrying TAG themselves, they're doing it wrong (outside of the Cat A1). Also, if they're outside the range of their TAG, they're doing it wrong. Shooting LRMs from 900m out is not effective use of them.

LRMs are fine then.

Well, they seem fine when run in large numbers with all the add-on equipment. Not so much with single LRM 10 though...

I sit about 250-400m (like someone stated above) from the front line...seems to work pretty well so far.

As a single, your right, they make a decent scare tactic or suppression fire weapon. If everyone on your team has one, then they are scary right? If 4 people have them, then it's a free LRM boat sort of. If you are the only one, then good luck, I hope your other weapons are enough then.

If missiles were balanced why were they not given state rewind? O wait! cause they aren't and PGI hasn't been balancing anything just making things worse. The catapults suck cause missiles suck. Except for maybe the K2 and even then.

Not really. If they sucked, then people in Catapults or Stalkers wouldn't be out in force with all the LRMs.

Really guy, LRM's don't suck any more or any less than PPC's, Gauss Rifles or AC-20's............they aren't a magic weapon that will kill with one shot nor are they a useless weapon that will do little to no damage.

Good teams will find a way to maximize the damage output of their LRM boats, that's part of what makes them good............bad teams will find a way to get killed by LRM's, that's part of what makes them bad.

QQing on the forums isn't going to do anything to rectify your opinion but it will certainly make you look like a whiner.
