Most of mine are rather generic...

"Aegis" is my Atlas-DDC, named after the effect of ECM, of course - a shield for the party.

"Steel Rain" is my Awesome 8R, which is an LRM boat.

"Gamma" is my Atlas-D, named after the end-game boss in Mega Man 3, a giant "peace-keeping" robot gone amok... seems appropriate, somehow.

"Thumper" is my Jagermech - it thumps people.

Others are generic Hunchs with numbers, a Cataphract named "Revenge"

Oh, and then there's "Caber" my Highlander. It's big, heavy, Scottish, and flies, so it's a caber.

Warhorse, it virtually never stop firing, working non-stop to keep up DPS at any range.
Centurion AL. 1 PPC, 2 Mlaz, 1 LRM10, 1 LRM5

Big Grin, for its Glasgow smile paint job, and my grin when a light rushing me sudden gets hit by 2 LPLaz have to turn tail and run.
Awesome 8Q. 2 PPC, 2 LPLaz, 3 MLaz

when i first got my Raven 3L i named it MEEP MEEP.... but then i learned enemies dont see your mechs "name" so it was pointless i now just let it name them whatever the default is.

I only named 2:

X-5 = The Garth
HGN-HM = Rhonda Snord

I didn't have any quirky anmes when I bought them so they are all default.

My DRG 1C is named Don, reason for this is my dad keeps calling the family cat "Don the Dragon Wilson" so I just deceided to name the Dragon "Don the Dragon."

My Catapult A-1 is named "Levee-Breaker," in reference to the song "When The Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin.

I also named by Catapult K-2 "Thunderstruck" in reference to the AC/DC song of the same name.

Those my only two interesting mech names...

All three of my Cicadas are named after Nirvana songs, though.

I like to go with a theme for each chassis.

Atlas-K (Kandi), -D-DC (Princess), -RS (Roxxxy).

Catapault K2 (Pixie), A1 (Silverbell).

Huchback 4P (Dopey), 4SP (Grumpy).

Jenner F (Speedy), K (Impulse).

Highlander 732 (Fionna), 733 (Kenna), 733P (Sheena).

Commando 3A (Terrence), 1B (Wilbur), 2D (Phillippe).

Currently trying to round out my mech bay by having 2 chassis for each weight class so I'm trying to figure out which heavy and medium mech to take next.

My Raven RVN-3L is named "Archon" and my Spider SDR-5D is named "Gauntlet". The first name is because of the Steiner House and the second one... you need to see me in a game for understanding. :)

Oh the day I wish for when Mech names are visible to everyone...

Ok lets do mine:

Founders Atlas (cant rename...whatever)
Yen Lo Wang (didn't rename since its the FREAKIN YEN LO WANG)
3 Commandos - Black Lotus(2D), White Lotus(1B) and Mirror Cage(3A)
3 Centurions - Prosperity(AL), Fortune(A), and Abundance(D)
Hunchback 4SP - Mezzo
3 Awesomes - Fuego (8Q), Caliente (8T), Ignatious (9M)
2 Dragons - Silent Thunder (1C), Plum Wine (5N)
Cataphract 3D - Silver Staff
2 Jaegermechs - Bubba Max (S), Chairman Dao (DD)
Raven 3L - Cordon Bleu (named in honor of when the 3L was maximum cheese)
2 Highlanders - Apollo (732), Neptune (733C)
Spider 5D - Veil

Bonus points for you if you know what some of those names are from. Like the Dragons and the Cataphract...

Raven 3L Barkem ?
Atlas D-DC Big Barkem
Jager A Panzerwerfer

Normally I just get an Idea for what I feel about the different mech types and run with it.

Jagers are all in German, but based on roll.
Ravens are numbered in the order I got them, except the 3L giving acknowledgement to the ECM to hide the number.
The atlases are plays off of the word big.
I did not try to name the Phoenix mechs.

AS7-D: Invictus (Latin for Unconquerable)
AS7-BH: The Bane of Joy (It ruins peoples Day)
AS7-RS: Tempest (Seemed appropriate for all the LRMs I had on it. Currently modified and awaiting re-name)
ON1-V: Protus (Named after a Rising Astartes in the Ultramarines chapter 2nd Company)
RVN-3L: Brutus (ECM and seemed fitting because of Caser and He's a back stabber)

Tend to use the british tank naming doctrine... always begin with C:

Centurion AL: Caernarvon
Centurion A: Chieftain
Hunchback 4P: Challenger (Unofficially known as Nine-Beam Sereph)
BlackJack 1DC: Caliburnus
