new maps that would shake things up. i think the lack of tactic is also due to the same maps u know how what to do there isnt any surprise. Also dropping to the same map 5-8 times in a row or not seeing tourmaline or dessert map in 2 days playing is disappointing.
i would love to make some insane concept art for a REAL futuristic city or a space station waoo if we would have a map editor waooo releasing 3-4 map in a month wouldn't be a dream.
now that would excite ppl for sure.

I think its the map "mode" that causes a lack of tactics rather than the maps themselves. that is... Assualt mode.

My "lets attack a dropship instead" idea seemed pretty popular. If you wanted to cap, you had to duke it out with a downed dropship. That way you couldn't just stand there and hide as a light, you actually had to keep running around dodging PPC's and Guass rounds coming at you.

How can you trust a group that with an agenda like that...

Seems to me the quote reflects a love and respect for the game while holding the individual player in contempt... Nothing to see here.

I'm constantly bemused at how often this is taken out of context. Oh well, never mind.

i'm certainly not telling you that you shouldn't hate goons. No one hates goons more than I, but we're not goonswarm. They play that other game.

If this was meant to help MWO, why the doomy hashtag and why imply that PGI is ruining the game (incompetent)?

Sounds more like the OPs attempt to stir attention with sensationalism.

PGI likes hashtags bro. Didn't you see those patch notes? Far be it for me to not use a medium with which they are not comfortable!

How do we feel about tweetbombing garth to listen in to us? ... He is the community manager, he should be our point-of-contact, maybe he can do his job for once... worst that can happen is he will be aware of the event and can forward our findings when ready, thats what he does anyway and if something, this should be one of those he sends up.

Not really sure I care anymore.

I can say with something like 99% certainty that Garth and company will hear this. If not live then in the form of mp3. He's been in touch. He's a good dude. I trust that he's not jerking us around.

Some other shadowy figures have expressed interest as well. Rest assured that #savemwo will be heard by those who need to hear it. We should avoid spamming them too much with this, lest we begin to look more aggressive than we mean to.

I can't be there thursday, but can somebody mention for me that the game is just boring? Brawling IS fun, but even balancing this game out for brawlers can be a trap. DO you really want every fight to be a bunch of mechs hugging? Think about it. Really though, maps and strategies. There are none. Give us some maps, and the ability to do more than blindly pick a mech for out next fight, and you will see a lot of new life in this game very, very quickly.

Lest it get lost in the sea of "god damned PPCs!" Let me reiterate that the goal of balance should not be eliminating sniping from the game and turning it in to "brawlers only." It should be to make both tactics, or a combination of the two, equally viable.

Well thats good to hear. I hope you guys have some talking points and won't make it into some hour long rant all he can answer with is "okay", lol. You can just use strawpoll site to write in the results of something if there isn't a clear agreement.

FACT: PGI has built one hell of a Battle Sim... or we wouldn't still be playing.
Question: Where is the Game?
Currently there are a myriad of different community initiated and run leagues, events and tournaments, like RHOD, LMS, Praxis, Mech Madness and MWO:Arena. These community run efforts exist without the support or blessing of PGI.

Quote

We’re focused on getting Community Warfare out the door, along with more official events and leagues. At this time we have not decided how or if we plan to support any non-official competitions/events. I would expect us to examine this after CW goes live, late this year.
- Bryan Ekman Ask the Devs 36
This is ridiculous.
These community efforts put a context around the battle simulator PGI has built and breath fresh life into an exciting, but repetitive "game". They (PGI) have been clear that CW is going to ramp up in phases (possibly spread over 6 months to a year).

Quote

Community Warfare is coming in stages over the course of 2013. The first phases will include the concepts of Factions – Player run Merc Corps, and non-player run Houses. The second phase will include the territory conquest aspects, including the ability to fight for and control border worlds within the InnerSphere. Details will be forthcoming through a variety announcements (press and forum) later in the year
- Bryan Ekman Ask the Devs 30

They (PGI) would greatly benefit from endorsing and supporting (through news and maybe participation).
It appears that at this time NGNG is the only sanctioned non-PGI community effort. *yes I know that Mech Madness is hosted by NGNGTV
I'd like see this topic raised at the Town Hall Meeting.

I haven't discussed this at length yet with my fellow moderator, but Stalkerr and I will most likely use a google doc to create an outline while the heads of each group are doing their short introduction / state of the game talk at the beginning of the night.

We want to create the town hall / round table outline on the fly so that we can try to tailor the discussion to how the various members of the community actually feel without it devolving into a directionless discussion.

Text chat will be available to everyone that attends so that even people who are not the nominated speaker for a group can participate as well. We'll be using the text chat to bring up topics or points to the speakers in the round table.

Yup, jaderaven is correct. Our basic format, for those that are curious, will be:
  • We're asking community representatives and unit leaders to message us. From there we're putting together a list of folks that will contribute verbally to the conversation on Thursday. The general audience will be muted, however they can type comments into chat. We'll have a moderator on-hand to highlight good thoughts or arguments and make sure they get escalated to the main panel chat through the panel moderators.
  • There will be a google doc available with concise list of the items we've heard from the community thus far. We'll have someone on-hand to take notes within this document during the chat, as well as amending the list itself as a result of the discussions during the town hall.
  • We'll have a few folks actually moderating the main voice chat itself. They'll ask questions of the folks on the "panel" and generally guide the conversation to a productive place (they otherwise will not be taking part in the conversation itself). Anyone on the panel who is not actively participating in the conversation at the current moment will be muted, in order to minimize crosstalk. The main thrust of the panel is for each representative to get their 3 minutes to present their case, and to weigh in on the issues raised in the doc, or by other people in the chat. We'll provide a brief time window for feedback and rebuttals to arguments as part of the format, so other participants can get their counterarguments in, if necessary.
  • The entire chat will be recorded, especially for the folks who aren't able to attend (in Europe, for example... Apologies, Euros!). If anyone objects to being recorded, we'll do our best to pull them out of the recording.
  • Near the conclusion of the meeting, we'll distribute a link to the audience, as well as on all MWO forums, to a Google form with the consolidated ideas from the meeting listed. If anyone wishes to show their support for these ideas, they'll enter their forum name and click the checkbox next to the idea(s) they agree with. If you don't checkbox, you're saying "I don't want change".We'll also send out a link to the audio recording of the chat, for those who want to review it.
Where it goes from there is up to the community and PGI.
