Unfortunately I wont be buying the mech, but what I noticed is a bad marketing practice.

Charity aside, asking people to pay cash for something, that's actually complete, and then telling them that they'll receive what they bought a month later is wrong on so many levels.

There's nothing special about it, the loadout's displayed on the page and doable with the available jr7-d.
Letting people use the mech straight away not only makes the deal reasonable but acts as a marketing promotion for everyone else who encounters it while playing.
Hell, I would definitely like to see it kick my *** today, than in a month.

I know that pretty much every player paid for this game to see features delayed for months, but there is no logic behind this particular move.

As for everyone thinking I'm not buying the mech because I don't want to : Thank you for proving that you're hypocritical sods who donate to charity only to feel good about themselves.
I wrote an argument proving how PGI could get more donations, and you were stuck at the fact that I wont buy the mech. This is where humanity fails, you've done a great job at proving so.

People will always find something to complain about.

I'm quite sure that, despite the OPs self proclaimed knowledge into the inner workings of PGI Development and Operations, Marketing, Legal, and all things to do with when a product is actually ready to roll out or not, the choice to withhold final release of the mech is thoughtful, deliberate, and anything but "bad marketing".

Legal hoops must be jumped through, practices must be reported, and they've been very careful to do everything right on this.

I'm disappointed that you still found something to complain about. Sheesh.

The money doens't go to PGi, but to the charity. Thus they have to wait until said charity filters them back purchases with names of people who did it so they can add the Jenner to said people.

It's more complicated because of the third party involved.

Pick your battles, man. This is so not an appropriate place for you to complain. Do you understand what tragedy led to the development of this mech? It's a beautiful sentiment that they took the time and effort to make this happen, and it's just a bit insensitive to challenge their marketing strategy, which, I'm sure they explained already, is a result of the channel they've had to follow to ensure the money gets where it needs to be (bear in mind they're not making money out of this, cancer research are). You already said you're not gonna buy one. Just let this one go.

I made a $10 donation to fight cancer and hopefully prevent any more children from dying too young. In a month or so, PGI may or may not send me a mech in appreciation.

So you have to wait a month. There are people with cancer who won't even have that month to wait.

As far as I am concerned, I gave $10 to have my name counted among a united MWO community focused on delivering a critical hit to cancer in Sarah's name. The Mech is just a bonus. Join us!

Also, From FAQ in case you need an answer more than "Don't be a d-bag":

Q: Why isn't Sarah's Mech in my MechBay immediately after I've purchase it from the buy page?
A: In order to accommodate this special charity sale, our payment system is completely separate from our other game purchases. Sarah's Mech will appear in-game on August 23. We may be able to add Sarah's Mech earlier in batches, but the feasibility of this will be determined by our developers at our regular scheduled maintenance periods. Rest assured, we'll do our best to get Sarah's Mech to you as quickly as we can after you've made your purchase, but no later than August 23.

Oh and btw, there is something very special about it, I just think you need a little help to see it dude.

Shut the !@#$ up and pay $10. It is a !@#$ing donation that you are getting a cool thing for. Consider it a receipt for kindness.

My self proclaimed knowledge? There's a video of the mech meaning it's done. It's being sold, meaning legal work is done.

Charity or no charity, the mech is being "sold" meaning there's absolutely nothing holding them back but themselves from delivering the mech on purchase.

Actually, I'm doing charity a favor here because bad marketing means less donations. Not everyone is a goody two shoes, or even has the time to check for why the mech came to be.

Would you have made that same donation if it wasn't for the mech? There are numerous donations throughout internets, go waste your cash you noble soul. (is /sarcasm even needed here?)

And why exactly should I believe their explanations? It's good practice today to not believe everything PGI says, and judging from their development scheme I wouldn't expect them to get this one right either.

Please, my little hypocritical narcissist, spare me your noble rays. Oh yes, there's something special indeed, so special that more donations can be made for it if the marketing model was correct.

Yet another hypocritical sod who cannot see the bigger picture in this thread. I may be harsh in my words but all I wrote is an argument to help the donations.

Passive trolling is the best because I can't feel guilty for trolling while you feel stupid for being trolled.
My attitude is actually better than yours because I'm actually posting an argument to aid in donations, but of course, I can't expect you small minded peons to expect that.

This maybe one of the legal hoops. I'm no advocate especially not for canadian law as I'm german, like I said.
Maybe they are not aloud to deliver the mech until the charity action is over so players won't feel obliged to buy it. I really don't know but law is stupid in many ways so I can figure it is something silly like this.

But nevertheless your arguments are not about raising the charity money at all. You're criticizing people for donating just to feel better but you want to provide a way for PGI to get those to donate that don't want to feel better but have a new mech... and you call the others hypocrites...

While it's feasible (even likely) that there are additional legal checkpoints to hit for something like this, an equally likely reason is that they haven't actually finished work on it yet. As similar as it may be to existing mechs, it presumably must still go through the same release process as every other new vehicle, and must then be scheduled for inclusion in a release. Deferring inclusion of finished work is not unusual in software development; bigger priority items get worked on first.

Those same developers also have to work on whatever other mechs are in the pipeline, and while charity is great and all (I bought mine) it's those other mechs that keep PGI running as a business.
