They literally called it a stress test when we moved to the current server.
Ah gotcha. The term Beta test is thrown around in the industry now like some sort of badge. A few years ago a beta quality game is the quality of a release game now, developers really took pride in knocking out necessary issues before going into a release. Now we get the bare minimums, and we all know why its being done, its being done because marketing cant advertise it on scifi channel until its called a release product.

I miss the knockdowns and collisions, and the fast mediums (gotta love the swayback), and the prevalence of brawling and close in fights in general.
I don't miss being lit up by my own team because of the weird collision detection. I don't miss the 4 FPS bug. I don't miss the random hud bugs. I don't miss the large amount of mechs to choose from (current meta-forced choices notwithstanding). I don't miss having 80% of my ballistic shots not registering. I don't miss a myriad of other bugs and issues that have been fixed and glossed over in the last 1+ year that I have been playing and I've missed here.
There are still issues to be worked out, but too often I think the progress that has been made is completely thrown out the window as people tend to focus on 1 or 2 items in particular and completely narrow their vision.
Again, I'm not disagreeing that there are some parts of the game from CB that I would love to see happen again, but there are a TON of things from CB that I am very glad to be rid of as well.
Oh I agree with as many good things that we did have there were a lot of broken things. However it was less soured because no money beyond our initial investment had been made and it was new. True we all have rose colored glasses with regard to the old days.
