I do too. It so happens I found a stash of it and have made a new playlist. I'll release a video a day (or as many vids as I missed days when I do miss days) until they are all off of my hard drive.

These are back from a day when it was normal for a Hunchback to go 64 kph. When almost everyone chain fired unless it was small lasers. When the eyes of the Atlas glowed.

Spoiler

The playlist is here. The first video is about brawling. Classic brawling in urban environments (River City and Frozen City) in a medium mech at less than 64 kph and winning.

(If the playlist doesn't show for you please let me know.)

Damn, forgot about the old player list UI etc. I remember getting a stock COM-3A as my first mech in CB and it being a perfectly viable harasser with its STD150 and single heat sinks (I think it may of been before DHS were put in possibly). Getting behind a medium and unloading both SRM6s was pretty satisfying, especially when they didn't turn around.

And when the Cent 9H was in, which ran fairly hot with a single AC20. Good times lol.

I miss the old ammo counts, the single heatsinks only (DHS has created every nightmare since)

and the LRM boats that ate you alive ;)

CB was almost like playing 3025 :(

The 9 Slas Fastback was a pinnacle of medium mech design. It was too good for this cruel world.

I miss the atlas glowing eyes and the way mechs actually glowed when being shot at (now that was badass ) :( ;)

I remember the community being smaller and nicer (okay maybe they weren't ) with less 'cheese' builds running around with great brawls at most matches
Thats not to say there still are not brawls today

Man this is like sad nostalgia that i shouldn't be having

DHS has created every nightmare since - Truth

Lol great signature @Protection

This is a wonderful bit of evidence to newer players that things weren't always like this, and a wistful reminder of past glory to the rest of us. Thank you for posting.

I miss the glowing eyes too (You should at least have an option to turn them on/off).

DHS were always going to change things, but I still say its the lack of hardpoint limitations that are the real culprit.

makes me realize the game might do well with a bit of scaling back the battles, not making them so maxed out with explosions and boat-builds and multi-dakka supersonics...
A slower pacing, fewer weapons, less ammo, more fragile mechs (or rather make the weapons deadlier), bigger focus on treading carefully and build a balanced load out :(
Not to say I don't like the game as it is now, only it might be a tad better if was.. less!

The early closed beta was great, you had to save up to customize, so it took a while before you saw any customs after every reset. Forest Colony looked a lot nicer and had better weather, I kinda miss it.

Atleast back then the devs listened from time to time since there were less then 2000 of us in the entire game.

Things were slowly going downhill when we moved from the test server to the current one. We couldn't even test DHS at 2.0, what kind of beta testing is that?

That is because we were never really beta testers. We are stress testers honestly. They have their own group of beta testers testing the releases we get to stress. Dont be surprised if a small niche group of people on these forums are among the inside testers.

You might be right and the direction the game is going they might as well make it NHUA=NO HEAT UNLIMITED AMMO and just get it over with. If I was one of the devas this game would have never been made into a FPS with mechs it truly sucks now and I hate to be negative but PGI just does not give a rats assss about what we all say. I miss the knockdowns and collisions, and the fast mediums (gotta love the swayback), and the prevalence of brawling and close in fights in general.

I don't miss being lit up by my own team because of the weird collision detection. I don't miss the 4 FPS bug. I don't miss the random hud bugs. I don't miss the large amount of mechs to choose from (current meta-forced choices notwithstanding). I don't miss having 80% of my ballistic shots not registering. I don't miss a myriad of other bugs and issues that have been fixed and glossed over in the last 1+ year that I have been playing and I've missed here.

There are still issues to be worked out, but too often I think the progress that has been made is completely thrown out the window as people tend to focus on 1 or 2 items in particular and completely narrow their vision.

Again, I'm not disagreeing that there are some parts of the game from CB that I would love to see happen again, but there are a TON of things from CB that I am very glad to be rid of as well.

They literally called it a stress test when we moved to the current server.

Ah gotcha. The term Beta test is thrown around in the industry now like some sort of badge. A few years ago a beta quality game is the quality of a release game now, developers really took pride in knocking out necessary issues before going into a release. Now we get the bare minimums, and we all know why its being done, its being done because marketing cant advertise it on scifi channel until its called a release product.

Oh I agree with as many good things that we did have there were a lot of broken things. However it was less soured because no money beyond our initial investment had been made and it was new. True we all have rose colored glasses with regard to the old days.

When almost 3 years ago I began to play MWO it was rough I really with all my past experience 20+ years in BT-TT-and MechWarrior was a noob. But it was exciting to know I could not just pick a assault load it up like a boat and just win every match. I truly enjoyed the collisions the ammo loss and rearm and repair costs. I knew even though it did not have 1/20th the content of past MechWarrior IP games it was heading in the right direction to possibly become a true fun MechWarrior game. Then after a year I knew it was just a FPS with no private matches no buddies to live chat with and just group up and train or fight in real league tournament's and games. Soon all the things that started out in MWO were disappearing being dumbed down to a point the game was starting to feel like Unreal Tournament just the same rinse and repeat and I started playing less and friends and new players I had met were disappearing as well. Older MechWarrior games were not perfect by a long ways but even after 20 years of playing this IP I can still go over to GameRanger load up MechWarrior4 Mercenaries play CO-OP or Missionplay with a pal pick a stock mech and get that same thrill out of the game not knowing if I would turn a corner and BOOM I would die and the mission would end. MWO has become to bland boring and repetitive with no social gamming on top of it all. So who knows I will stay till release but if it is not exciting and fun to play with friends and teams its just back to the old MechWarrior games for fun and a write off for MWO. IM a GhostBear forever
