Hi All:
I am a Jenner pilot and recently I have been looking at heavier mechs that have similar jump jet performance to the Jenner. This came as a surprise given the tonnage difference between them.

To illustrate, I collected the following images:

As you can see the Quickdraw has similar performance to the Jenner although the big tonnage difference. Now, I understand that the Jenner takes off much faster, however, how can the Quickdraw achieve greater altitude? I know I am missing something. Anyone??

Different Jump Jet classes. The Jenner uses class V (.5t), which are rated for lights. That weight includes fuel capacity (i think), but has limited thrust. The Quickdraw uses class III JJ's, which weigh more and are rated for heavies. They have more thrust per JJ than the class V ones. And the Quickdraw is on the low end of the heavy scale, better weight to thrust ration.

It's also how many you have in the mech, but yeah, that's why Spiders tend to get higher than Jenners I think, the trust per ton ratio.

It also I find depends on how much forward movement you have. The less forward movement, I find the higher I climb.

Not sure why, exactly, but that fifth JJ in Jenners feels like it makes an enormous difference in terms of lift. Might just be my imagination, though.

I think you can check on smurfy to check on the jump jet performance difference.

Mech and Weaponstats -> jumpjet
