Like, for example, the Devastator of the opening post.
That thing is munchtastic. Seriously. Don't. The minute you add something as optimized as that to the game, everyone stops taking anything else. All we'll see is Devastators all day, every day.
I mean, Even a King Crab is tame in comparison, if we're talking star-league toys, but a big flat NO to the devastator, please. This game is not ready for it, yet.

did I mention adding the Marauder?
You are aware that many of you including the thread starter have added Mechs from the 3050 and later Technical Readouts?
These can only be added in an earlier Era with quite some bending... Do not know if Jorden K. Weisman would be angry if to much bending is done.

we want all the unseen in the game.
I am willing to make concessions and allow the lol-trashcan also being added (but only on the other side of the battle) ;-)
sorry blackabbot I could not resist

so be honest have you ever successfully operated in an urbie in the open terrain in the classic tabletop? Scoring a hit before being annihilated does not count, at least a kill is necessary.

you are of course right anyone with a scrapyard and duct tape can built an urbie, and the disguise as a trashcan or maybe a perculator (coffeemaker) is indeed very good....

Mauler http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Mauler
And perhaps a really light Mech, my preference would be the Flea.

So let me fill in a few spots some of these will be the unseens but they have new art in the books so they shouldn't be concidered unseens anymore(technicaly)
Locust----I've always wanted to try that Davion variant with a PPC
Panther----The Mugger great for cities
Javlelin---Nothing says hi like 2 SRM6 racks
Spider---Because out there some where someone is such a speed/jumping freak they need this guy so they can sleep at night
Urbanmech---one of the most Iconic mechs in the game that never gets love and when the game came out 30 some odd years ago it was one of the few lights with good armor
Assassin---Good mech for people transition betwen fast lights and somthing heavier
Clint---Makes a good command mech for light lances that run in the 6/9/6 profile
Blackjack---These always seem to do better than their loadout would suggest
Vindicator---It is the iconic mech of the Cappies and it's pretty tough
Dervish---Medium fire support that can take care of it's self
Griffin--- A sold mech as long as you use it right
Shadow Hawk---the orginaly swiss army knife of battletech
Wolverine---Tough scrapper
Thunderbolt---The orginal deluxe swiss army knife of battletech
Archer---2 LRM20's good armor was king back in it's day. slower than a catapult but way meaner
Grasshopper---A nother mech that does better than it's load out suggests
WARHAMMER---yeah I put that one in bold it's been my favorite since I got into this game way back in the 80s/90s. "able to destroy anything it's weight class or lower" was the orginal request in the fluff in TR3025 when it was created. still does it today

Marauder---Command mech of the stars, it's a good mech with plenty of "oh crap! here comes the pain" varients
Orion---The Patton of Battletech ride(kerensky) it's tough it's relable it's gonna stomp you into the ground one way or another
Victor---jumping AC/20 of death yes please!
Battlemaster---Name says it all
Zeus---God of thunder! plus it is a great buddy for the Atlas covers those pesky spots the Atlas has trouble with
Cyclops---Good ride for the commander and should keep him out of trouble with it's mix of AC/20/LRM10/SRM4/2 meduim lasers. It's not meant for a slugging match it is meant for the guy telling you where crap is going down.
Banshee---The orginal will make you laugh so hard you will probly pee your self but all the varients of it will make you run away in terror.
Those are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

Realy all of the mech designs should be added but then your looking at 300+ designs and thats a bit crazy

If you are trying to operate an Urbie in open terrain you are failing. To use a WoT analogy, this is like trying to drive a Hetzer across a big open field. Urbies are not designed for open warfare. If only there was something in their name that gave some indication of this, that perhaps suggested that they were in some way best suited for Urban warfare. The role of the Urbie is to sit behind a building in an alley very quietly out of LoS and wait for you to come around the corner and then blow your leg off with his AC/10 or AC/20 and then jump jet the hell out of there unless he has another couple of buddies lurking on the other side of the street to help finish you off. Unless of course you're a Light/Medium mech of course, because guess what, you're already dead, one shot CT from an AC/20.
If you take an Urbie out into an open field of combat you are an ***** and you deserve to be blown to bits. An Urbie belongs lurking behind something, 30 tons that you're not really going to miss from your drop, just waiting for that Jenner to go charging around a corner and get a face full of autocannon.
Also, keep in mind that with the hardpoint system that an Urbie should be able to mount a Gauss Rifle, giving you a 30 ton, jumpjet capable sniping platform if you want to mix things up.
[Edit: Seriously, the forum sensors 'not particularly smart starting with i'?]
