However why no Awesome patterns? I'd be all over them! I mean look at that -- it's a Predator Awesome! I wants more awesome patterns!

well people collect and race and sometimes win with pintos too but that doesnt make them good.

CT's actually identical in width to the Atlas, although it is vertically shorter, as shown here in my Pretty Baby compared to an Atlas.

It is also no wider than the Victor's and skinnier than the Highlander's (slightly). Although the Stalker has the skinniest center torso.

It's widely considered that until PGI fixes the Awesome model's profile to reduce the vulnerable side torsos due to its super-wide head-on profile, improves the hardpoints on the Pretty Baby, and/or gives the entire Awesome line some significant perks for running Energy loadouts (harkening to its PPC primacy in the lore), the chassis certainly does not live up to its name.

As someone who already owns 8 Awesomes and has all 6 variants Master unlocked, I can confirm that's certainly still the case. Regardless of how well a dedicated Awesome pilot can do, they are inferior on the battlefield and that pilot would perform even better in another chassis. It also hurts that they are rated as Assault mechs for matchmaking purposes. A team who receives two Awesomes from the matchmaker while the opposite team gets two of any other Assault mechs, will be at a significant disadvantage. At present, they would be better weighted against high-end Heavy mechs for team balancing purposes.

This would be a good mech to buy if:

(1) The hitboxes were re-designed so that the Awesome in general isn't a damage-sponge.
(2) Arm actuators actually did something other than waste space
(3) Melee damage existed, or there was some mission-driven reason to have a claw-arm that can carry/grip things.
(4) The invisible hitboxes on most terrain features were fixed so that corner-sniping was a stronger maneuver in general compared to hill-humping and poptarting.
(5) Heat nerfs hadn't just broken conventional designs in at least half of these mechs. "How about turning that LRM30 into an LRM80?" I haven't tested it, but won't that put you into overheat on a single salvo? And let's not talk about stock variants carrying 3 PPCs

I thought that sale was like last week (or 2). There were camos+colors for Awesomes, Stalkers, and Highlanders (this was like a week before the tourney).

Of course, the best Atlas (D-DC) was on sale during the tourney...
