We gave it the old college try, we really did, and at least gave it a shot. May as well stay around here to watch the trainwreck, but I don't think I'll bother downloading the patch at all. See you guys in Star Citizen?

Will Star Citizen feature a full PvE campaign?

I am really tired of PvP games, since every game I am interested in ends up with sh*tty balance and/or doesn't have interesting PvE gameplay. But I'd kill for a good space combat shooter game.

Man, can't just someone remake the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series?

The first thing coming out is a full branching singleplayer campaign, wing commander style. The multiplayer persistent universe portion is not coming until 2015.

Also, GG CLOSE MWO. You had such potential.

You have no idea how much I dream of this reality.

Disney should pay attention because I would throw more money at that then I have at Star Citizen and MWO combined.

Wait a minute.. There's a letter... with a few hundreds signatures from the "top" units and they didn't do anything or even acknowledge it in the slightest? But, it was going to be different this time.Right?
Now who's off topic? Are these folks going to get reported? Are people going to put these negative nancies on ignore.
Epic. Took 4 whole days to collapse! :)

They are literally like 20 xml number changes away from making this a balanced game.

Right, that's the worst part. Instead, we get ~HEAT SCALING~ and extra damage to internal structure, because, god knows, if there's one problem MWO has right now, it's that mechs are just living too long.

At 1 heat change per xml change though it is probably more like 60.

Like Zao, I've just uninstalled instead of patching. Unless PGI makes a reply to #saveMWO or backtracks on ghost heat, I'm just done caring about this game. It's like what I went through with Black Prophecy. You're critical of their direction, but you maintain an unjustified sense of optimism despite the fact that you know better. Eventually, you have to realize that something is likely not going to change and that you can't really be bothered to keep caring anymore.

You know when my faith was highest in this game and this company? When this happened on Nov 27th:

Quote

We know that one area of the game that comes correctly under constant scrutiny is the netcode, after all what is an online game without solid stable netcode?

http://mwomercs.com/...t-code-roadmap/

Why was my faith so high at a time when this game had some of its worst netcode? Because PGI was able to admit its mistake. Because they were able to be honest about something that was unambiguously wrong withe their product. I spent 120 dollars on a founders pack on faith, I spent money several times after that on faith, because I expected this game would get better. Most of the people in this thread didn't spend money on your game because they liked the product, we spent money because we hoped it would contribute to making it better.

When you see progress do a reversal and start heading back down the road it came, what are you left with? You need some evidence that things are improving, something to reinvigorate that sense of faith because without it, the game has nothing for you. If you don't like the current product and all signs point to a product that is going to get worse, you're left with very little that will help rationalize spending that money on hope alone, because at that point, you have none.

When hundreds of players, who often times do not get along with each other, decide to band together and have an honest discussion about what they feel is wrong, that should be an unquestionable indication that something is wrong. However, if you can't even recognize there's a problem, how can anyone ever trust you to fix it? Without even that most basic element of trust, how can anyone be expected to take you seriously?

So, like I said, unless there's a reason to validate my faith once more, I'm done caring about this game.

I want to repost something from our internal forums about exactly what the problem with ghost heat is.

Because there seems to be a chattering of people who see no problem with Ghost Heat, because in PUG games they are seeing fewer snipers, so it must be working, right?

No, here's a the problem:

Quote

Ghost Heat feels like a fake and artificial adjustment that punishes players because PGI is bad at game mechanics and weapon balance.

I'm going to make an analogy here using Team Fortress 2 - a game relatively well balanced given the huge diversity in classes and loadouts.

It would be like, in TF2, when one team starts having too many of one type of class, that they all suffered reduced max health for having so many of that class. Rather than attempting to make all classes viable on their own right so that there are lots of different combinations and strategies, you are simply eliminating an entire strategy because it so overwhelms all others because of your poor game design.

So let's say a team going "all soldiers" (for a pretend example) has become a problem because Soldier is far and away a better class at the moment. So teams, especially more competitive teams, are almost exclusively running "all soldiers." It's not their fault, it is just the only choice left by poor game balance to remain highly competitive.

Now, instead of finding ways to round out soldiers or make the other classes viable, PGI has introduced an artificial rule that "when a team has more that 3 soldiers, they all suffer a -60% health penalty."

And so now people are saying "Hey look, no more all soldier teams. This must have done the trick."

Except it hasn't, it's temporarily alleviated the problem at PUG games, but it has eviscerated high level play by completely destroying a viable strategy for no good reason. "All soldiers" - even if it was balanced - is no longer an option for any team, it's completely off the menu and forcefully ripped out of the playbook.

I'm not saying "All Soldiers" should always work, but it should have a niche that might make it work in some specific situations. All classes should have a role, and being able to go "all-in" on a type of class should be a viable strategy.

That's the problem.

Hi all,

So with this patch, it's clear it's time to move into Phase 2 of #saveMWO.

Unit leads, look for a PM late tonight or tomorrow. It's time to convert your signatures into real action.

I'm just a PUG in the "brown sea" to some, but I care about this game, too ...

For Stalkerr, the rest of the team at Word of Lowtax, and the other clan/group/corps/etc. Leaders: in my view, you have started a good thing ... please, don't let PGI's corporate inertia over the course of just one week slow down the direction of this.

I like that #savemwo is critical, but mostly positive and constructive ... keep up the pressure, but big, immediate changes might be setting your expectations too high.

I bought a Sarah too. A lot of goons disappointed with the game's direction did. It's not a statement of support of PGI so much as a statement of disaproval of cancer.
