For anyone that's been paying attention to the whole 3rd person thing on the test server...

It looks like PGI is planning on splitting the player base between "Hardcore" and "Regular" groupings - with Hardcore being 1st Person Only, and Regular being 1st or 3rd Person.

There's obvious complaints here, but there is a silver lining here that might also be an opportunity.

Since the player base is being split already, why not try to make Hardcore more about pleasing us - the competitive crowd, while letting them mess up regular all they want with terrible mechanics. Rebalance everything in hardcore around our suggestions, while eliminating things like ghost heat. If we can get a proper weapons balance at the hardcore level, then it should balance well enough for plebeian casuals as well. If it doesn't, then add all the convoluted ghost heat crap you need to for 'regular' mode, and leave hardcore with real mechanics.

I'm just saying, there might be a slim opportunity here to salvage the overall game.

Probably because they don't intend on keeping Hardcore mode for very long. In fact I'm willing to bet that no matter which queue is more popular, eventually they will be combined simply because splitting the player base is never good. They've alluded to that themselves.

It would be nice, I just don't see it happening, even with a huge uproar from the community.

On the subject of 3PV though, from the screenshots I've seen the FOV increase is quite large and it does allow you to look over terrain and also lets you see what direction you are being shot from behind which allows for a much quicker reaction. I don't think any amount of gimpy mechanics will negate the immense advantage that view gives to a good coordinated team or good players in general who learn the ins and outs of the system and how to abuse it.

Seeing the 3PV test results today I think it's pretty safe to say we have been beta testers alright... beta testers for XBox One

Too bad you decided to not show up to the public town hall to add your own concerns to the agenda I guess! So tell me, why do you think the new player experience is fine how it is?

Sir the things in the OP'S and others agenda the named things they agreed needed to be changed in MWO have been hashed out 10000+ times on many topics and posts over 2 years. And believe me if you were to read all my 1500 posts 80% are constructive topics and posts to help MWO as a game and what my opinion is and was on many things related to BT-TT-MechWarrior-and MWO. And no I think the new player experience is horrid and I have posted many reply's to fixes but like everyone else on these forums you need to understand a few things about MWO. First MWO is not a true MechWarrior game and PGI will not acknowledge needing the help of this community nor do I think they really care about what is said on these forums pro or con about the game. And im but one of thousands of MechWarrior vets that have been with this IP of games for 10+ years. That is why I say good luck if PGI will not respond and change the core game for the vets and founders this small group is not going anywhere in this topic or posts. But im just stating my own opinions others may have a different view but PGI will fold this game and close the servers before they bend to extortion by founders that have remorse over there purchase. Hey I have bought 10 founders packs + a lot more do I want a refund even thought I do not like the MWO approach to MechWarrior? NO!!! I have not asked for one penny back and that's the way it should be. Posted Image

You shouldn't fault us for giving it a last try as a community, instead of as a set of unrelated polls and individual efforts.

The OP and this whole group just want one thing POWER OVER OTHERS in this game the ability to decide for others I have seen it in the past MechWarrior games in admins for some leagues. I personally would trust the devs sending me a email or a open reply to constructive topics and posts I made than trust the response of a group of players that might have there own agenda and not mine or others concerns in mind.
I don't think you understand what the aim of this was at all. Not even a little.

I don't necessarily agree but as someone who does not own a horse I endorse your use of the word "Plebian".

#saveMWO fans, here's the first step of Phase 2, which is something I think we can all agree on in the interim before our next meeting.

Use the form: https://docs.google....px6MMU/viewform

Check out the tally: https://docs.google....lxTkV0d1E#gid=0

Information gathering only. I'd like to get even people not on board with the Town Hall's aims to use this form, so we can start getting an idea of what's out there now and what's being left on the table.

(for the curious, yes the form is biased a bit.)

signed. Is it possible to add another choice to the tally? I bought it, but am interested in getting a refund if the next one or two weeks don't look promising.

Done. Clarified the language on that question to be "I got (or intend to get) a refund on my purchase"

I've spent $120 on this game, and I was planning on spending $80+, but the lack of updates, and random bogus gameplay changes, balance, and lack of game progression made me put my MasterCard down on July 26th. I reallly reallly want this game to be good and give them money, but I am apparently a minority, and don't count, and they don't want my money.

CAPS LOCK ON. WE HAVE NOT HAD A SOLID UPDATE ON CW SINCE Dec 2011. Utter insanity.

The option that you "intend" to get a refund is silly in my opinion. It's just like the people who claim all their friends or what not got refunds. Put your money where your mouth is and either get a refund or don't. It's a reason, IMO to not be taken seriously. Even if you separate the choices and just list the people who claim they got a refund, it's still unreliable as who but PGI knows the truth?
That's the other reason it's silly, PGI knows this, so all this is spin just like PGI does but in reverse. If you really believe in this movement then really get a refund and let PGI know. If your just a poser trying to threaten PGI tell them "you better listen or I'll probably think about getting a refund sometime relatively soon".
It's not that I'm against speaking the only language they will understand, money, in fact that's the way to really make an impact no letter ever will, but it only works if it's real. It's easy to talk a big game and huff and puff, it's another to follow through.
So if you did get a refund, good on you. If this is intended to pressure PGI, I doubt they will believe people intentions when they have the real numbers. Waiting a few weeks isn't going to help either, there's not much time left and the longer PGI lurches in this direction the harder it will be to arrest the inertia.
I was seriously hoping for something interesting, but the folks behind it did admit they didn't really have a follow up so it's to be expected. No I don't have any better ideas, but then again I'm not behind or even part of this movement so it's not on me. The real issue is PGI seems impervious to feedback that isn't positive, and doesn't even acknowledge the negative, their apparently just happy it's written politely. I guess that makes it easier to ignore.
Good luck, I think we're all going to need it. B)

Right, well, we may have some more interesting things in store, but this is all I can move on for now without the group all having a discussion, which we'll do next week. This thing, whatever it is, doesn't mean anything unless we have a level of consensus over where to go next. We'll talk about it, and then we'll take appropriate action.

This form is just to tide us over till then and give us some more ammo (which as you said, we'll need).

Why the hell do you keep telling Stalkerr that he, as one of the two main driving people behind this, that he has admitted he doesn't have a followup AFTER he has revealed the first part of the followup? I mean really.... are you trying to look silly?

I get the only part thing, but really what kind of ammo is totally flawed data? You're going to actually use those numbers to make a point? you might as well just say lots of people are threatening to get a refund, because I highly doubt a lot of people are going to say they are not getting refunds, or if they do well then your actually hurting your own cause. People obviously have a clear reason to say they will ask for a refund as there's no downside even if they don't. Otherwise you form might show that PGI can do what they want and still make money.
Again, not saying not to do anything or to pack it in, just if you're going to do something, I would try to do it right. I don't see any valid info coming out of this.

I'm talking about earlier when I asked what they would do if the letter was ignored and was told they had no endgame plan at the time. I'm too lazy and really don't care enough to go find the quotes, but I'm pretty sure he knows what he said. You might want to keep up if you're going to make comments and not look silly. B)

There's no end planned to this, is what I meant. Even if we succeed and PGI listens and the game gets better, we're still going to need to keep discussing and pushing forward and doing what we can to keep the game amazing for everyone.

I also do want to make clear that I do not have a grand master plan for every piece of this. I am not the one with all the answers. Only together can we actually figure out what we need to do and then go and do it. I'll do my best to represent the interests of the people who put their trust in me, but I can't promise success.

Also, I know I can't possibly get all the Phoenix data. Just like the letter, it's a symbol of a group of people who want to spend time and money investing in this game. For this moment, symbols are what we have. We'll have to figure out what comes next.

In other news, has anyone noticed in the 'the maths feedback' thread how it seems more people with post counts under 100 are showing up to voice their displeasure and how lopsided the feedback is in relation to the for/against of the thread topic?
