Honestly and this is just going by math... Unless they give engines a 45 or more health... when they turn on crit damage to actuators, engines, and gyros, MGs will become the most overpowered weapon in MWO's history, and that was back with the 0.8 damage per second.

I suppose you want to say "I told you so" right about now?

Next patch, you will see the following:
  • A % of critical damage done to the internals of a component will be applied directly to the inner structure of that component.

I saw thought, I could have sworn they already meant it was in. But damn -- I'm doing insane damage without that. ;)

I don't usually take them on my mechs. My play style isn't well suited to them. I have seen them used to great effect in game. I saw this JGR-DD with six of them on the arms and ERPPCs in the torso. The thing would crack open a mech with the PPCs and rush in with the MGs and just make the mech disintegrate. The thing was deadly towards the endgame of the match.

We'll have to see what percentage they'll do to internal structure, but if it's enough it may indeed make MGs killers.

Given that the target has no armour, of course, so they're still useless for e.g. the SDR-5K or the upcoming Flea/Locust.

I'll beg to differ on that, because I do some insane stuff with them. I would like to have 6 MGs on my Locust, though.

600dmg spread all over an opponent is not as good as 600dmg to CTs.

When was the last time that we wanted the MGs to become OP...

That day might be closer than I imagined.

Back when it did 0.8 damage per second they were "OP", the instant someone flicks the switch for engine crits.
