Fix The Awesome!

Selling them cheap will not solve anything. As of right now, the Awesome isn't living up to its name, nor its reputation in Battletech lore as a tough, robust assault, not just as a fire support platform. If anything the Stalker seems to have replaced the Awesome's role in both.
Since the complains and recommendations on boosting and fixing the Awesomes are common enough, I won't repeat much of what has been said, except to summarize and add another suggestion.
The first and most obvious is to fix the hitboxes. Reduce them in size and vulnerability.
The second is to give the Awesome a special ability. Perhaps an exception to the PPC Alpha rule and heat generation, given that certain models is supposed to be a specialized PPC boat.
The first may seem to require an extra effort, although fixing hitboxes have been done before and need to be redone on some other mechs as well. The second might require recoding and probably the less likely of the two.
There is still a simpler and third alternative and assuming if fixing the Awesome hitbox is no longer the choice, and that is to pad the center, left and right torso stats both front and rear by increasing their values, perhaps by at least another 10% to 15%. However this should be not done in conjunction with #1, and the third proposal is choosing either #1 or #3. Now this takes the least work to do and easier to adjust and fine tune depending on the feedback.

As has been established, rescaling the model is extremely complex, so that's largely out. So, the alternative is to adjust the hitboxes to make the mech a bit more robust. This is more complex than "Fix the hitboxes", though - they're not broken, it's just too easy to hit the torsos, center in particular. Enlarging the arms is about the only way to go, though - if they just shrink the CT, the side torsos become even more vulnerable, and thus the Awesome is very easy to cripple as most variants tend to weight to one side or the other.

Alternatively they could give it better handling (acceleration/deceleration and turning speed).
Or both.
Really, anything to keep it from being strictly inferior to the Stalker...

As for the heat restrictions, one of the Awesome's quirks should be that you can fire 3 PPC or ER PPC's without heat restrictions, OR redo the heat restrictions altogether. Yes, I could chain fire the PPC's or ER PPC's, that is a solution, but when it comes down to it, the Awesome simply isn't awesome at all. Heck, when you think the Awesome will be CT shot at 1000 meters now due to snipers, wait until the Awesomes have to face CLAN MECHS and with their targeting computers and extended range zoom systems, Awesomes will stand even less of a chance than they do now.

Yeah, everyone agrees that the hit boxes need adjustment, at the very least.
That said, no need to worry about "clan targeting computers" or enhanced zoom. We dont and wont have targetting computers in mwo, and there already is an extwnded zoom for everyone (though it really doesnt work well at all)... No sense in worrying about non-existent clan tech regardless though.
The reality is that in the current game, the heat scaling totally bones the awesome. Mechs capable of mounting ballistics alongaide ppc's are fine, but the awesome's reliance on energy is very problematic in a world where more than two of a large energy weapon is penalized. The ballistic/energy mixes can get much better pinpoint hits.

I don't know if wide is the problem. Sure the Awesome is wide, I'll give you that, But it's width + the hit boxes are the problem. Fix the hit boxes, and you could make the Awesome more viable. Remember the Awesome was supposed to be somewhat wide, but I will agree, this design makes the Awesome like a giant barn door.

The original Awesome had a stream lined straight center-line, with a curved torso, which would have made more sense to include, rather than just sticking it way out. Coupled with its in-game width means it dies to CT a lot quicker from excessive angles.

If you wanna give the energy variants boosts for those weapons i wouldn't complain, but i feel that any bonus would need to be balanced carefully, least we see an Awesome meta...

If the arm hitbox was a little bigger, when it gets blown off it would still provide a modicum of protection...

BP Raven thanks for posting these picts here, from here I can better explain what I mean.
You see what's considered the arm, which is the top shoulder/paldron? That should be part of the left or right torso, not the arm. Part of YOUR arm isn't your shoulder. The shoulder is a part of the torso, not the arm. Thus the hit box for this is incorrect. This is where PGI got this wrong. This needs to be redone. Also, the hit box for the CT is very large. If somehow they could reduce the hitbox of this by say 5 to 10 percent somehow, the Awesome would become a viable mech. Again, I'm not calling for drastic redesign here of the Awesome, because I still want to keep the integrity of the design and the art. But changes do need to be made for the Awesome on the hitboxes.

And all the Awesome was supposed to be is armor and PPC. Nobody short of another large assult should be able to grind one down.
A team of lighter mechs yes. But I have seen hunchies rip these things apart all by themselves. And that is not how it is supposed to work.
