Dx 11

so here is my question: will I require a DX11 compatible GFX card to continue playing MWO?
I have a very powerful, but also old, current graphics card. While I can currently run MWO on full settings, I know that in closed beta things looked different, as in they toned down textures and lighting A LOT. So, given my current card is old anyway, I am contemplating a new card. or at least a newer DX11 compatible one.
Will I have more time then a few weeks to pick one out, or is it going to be mandatory when the Engine update hits to have DX11?
Following this, does anyone have a good suggestion for an Nvidea card that meets DX11, but isnt like shiny new so it doesnt cost 600 dollars? I lost track of the series numbers over a year ago so I have no idea what is relatively new or not.
If a dev has spoken on this subject, some links would be nice. Otherwise, I invite a staff member to elaborate on the plans for DX 11 implementation coming apparently shortly.

theres an option to switch between DX9 and DX11 i believe.
so if you arnt compatible, you probably just wont have the option to use DX11 in that option

Speaking of, does anyone have a suggestion for a good bang for the buck Nvidea card?

I use a 650 Ti it is reasonable price and I can run at 1080P with max settings and maintain a 45 FPS frame rate

XP runs out soon though. Expect a sudden decline in XP usage after next year. DX10 may get skipped as the bottom bar though since you can get DX11 for Win 7.

Yea, I am not falling for it this time. I will believe it when I see it in the patch notes not before.

Well really does depend on your budget but I'd check if you can get anything in the nvidia 700 series. They're all solid cards and usually faster than previous generation at the same price point.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the XBox 360 supports 9c (actually a superset with a couple additional features, but who cares), while the PS3 is built on an oddball custom API that looks a whole lot like OpenGL (but actually isn't) with comparable capabilities to directx 9c. Any game that was made for multiple platforms was designed to still look decent and more often than not have all the major graphical features (albeit turned down) on the lowest common denominator (360). The primary goal of Cryengine 3 was to get the engine running on consoles. See where I'm going with this?

This hierarchy chart gives a good sense of performance differences, and the article before it talks about value per dollar. http://www.tomshardw...iew,3107-7.html
