I would expect it will be on the 13th.

reread the post. It is oddly phrased, but they do indicate a patch next week.

I'd rather have fixed HSR than Terra Therma, but ok, some stuff are fixed

Instead of rock, paper, scissors we will just have paper, slowly giving everyone paper cuts. I can't wait till they listen to the mouth breathers and link PPPC's and Gauss together.

Everyone bring out your dice and take one MG, one small pulse laser, one medium laser, one LRM 5, one SRM 2, and a PPC. GO HAVE FUN.

they won't lnk gauss and ppc

what they have here is a boating fix. and it will prevent boating. 2PPC guass builds are not boats. so i'm not sure why people expect the boating fix to address that issue.

You caught me before I edited my post. Yeah, I see that. I usually skim over the patch notes intro because its mostly fluff.

Just read the patch notes. As much as I appreciate the bug fixes, what happened to big things in July? So I have to wait another week to see if we get anything there. You guys should have just pushed back this stuff into next week’s patch. An honestly from the looks of it air and arty strikes still look useless, damage area wasn't what was making these useless, it might have been part of it, but I got a feeling that this is still going to do nothing for them. Personally since there is only six or whatever shells being dropped if you increase the area of the strike doesn't that just make it less likely to hit your targets seeing as it’s less concentrated. Those mechanics just need to be reworked and re implemented not tweaked its underwhelming.

Udate: Ohhh ok sorry, just seen it was the explosive shell area of effect. Ok that might work. Still gotta try it out though.

Intresting News, Thanks.

Optimization to the client code.
  • Math functions.
  • Gameplay code.
  • Rendering code.
  • HUD draw calls.

I like that. ;)

If I had to guess, I would say that some of this was in the 12v12 testing, and is being put into place for 12v12 in the next few weeks.

New map, movement changes, the boating heat changes... all kind of big. I bet 12 v 12 was supposed to go in but got moved to next week.

They may have wanted to see what their performance tweaks did for 8 v 8 before bumping us up.

Actually they don't have a fix for pretty much anything. Furthermore, the weird heat mumbo jumbo isn't even supposed to be a fix to boating, but to massive pinpoint alphas - which is a real issue and would require a real solution instead of this facepalm-inducing mess.

I like what I see, but what about weapon balance? Didn't pgi say they were going to be very aggressive toward launch? No change to pulse lasers? No ppc heat increase?

Isn't the grouping of the heat changes a weapon balance issue?

Linked weapons will always use the highest base heat value and highest multiplier of the weapons fired. e.g. if you launch LRM15s with LRM10s, it will use LRM15 numbers. If you fire Large Lasers with ER Large Lasers, it will use ER Large Laser numbers.

Can someone explain to me, why this will be implemented?

SRM6 and SRM4 will now share their max alpha limit.

Ok, I'm confused. This is not the same as the lumping PPCs together because the PPCs all share the same max alpha limit.
SRM6 max alpha limit is 3, SRM4 max alpha limit is 4. If I have 3x SRM4 and 1x SRM6 and alpha, do I incur the heat penalty or not?
They share the max alpha limit now, so does it count as me firing 4x SRM4 and no heat penalty or does it count as me firing 4x SRM6 and incurring the wrath of the heat gods?

Ghost heat is being implimented do discourage boating. All those guys you see running around with 6 ER PPCs, 2 AC20s, 6 LLs, and missle boats should be dropping off for the most part. Players that can heat manage well will probably still use these builds though.

I hope you anti-boating types are well pleased with this patch and will be quiet now. For the rest of us, these heat penalty changes just plan suck. I hope I don't regret buying into the Overlord....

Personally I think the system is clunky, but I'll live with it. I would prefer that ERLL/LL be bumped to 3 however. They are already DoT, and while 5 LL Cataphracts were a nasty boat, they were uncommon. TBH, I could see it even being raised to 4, but I would be satisfied with 3. 2 is right out.
