They came. And with minor teaks they are awesome. Boating PPC almost stopped and now will. Boating was always an issue even if people claim different and now its at least not so omnipotent anymore.

I hope you anti-boating types are well pleased with this patch and will be quiet now. For the rest of us, these heat penalty changes just plan suck. I hope I don't regret buying into the Overlord....

Because you guys were running AC 40 or 4/6 PPC boats?

I'm happy with this, makes me wish I would have bought the Sarah already though. I'm pleased with the amount of fixes lately and am really excited for August and September.

Doubling down on ********.

These are some fantastic changes and I am glad to see PGI is pursuing the aggressive balancing promised alongside reviewing the "collateral damage" Ghost Heat has caused on non-problem variety builds such as SRM2/SRM4- and Large Laser- equipped mechs. These truly novel changes to combat the long-range high-alpha metagame that's been dominant since the end of January surely will put a stop to 2-ppc 1-gauss builds, some of which are jump-capable. Dear PGI, let me remind you that it`s less then 2 months till release! That`s not a patch! When are you gonna test and implement all this big promises you`ve made?
Sigh, you broke my dream.

Hope you guys all like the 2x PPC 1x Gauss meta game, because that's the Alpha strike you're going to keep seeing for the rest of MWO's life.

Looks like PGI are happy with that meta, but it does nothing for interesting builds. When Phoenix launches, or any new mechs come out, the only question you need to ask yourself is - can I fit two PPCs and a Gauss Rifle on it?

The LL/ERLL/LPL nerf was unnecessary, and shows PGI don't really care about the meta. The +1 PPC heat would have gone along way to changing the game for the good, but instead we've got two or three convoluted charts of heat multipliers which don't solve the problem.

Crazy.

Bah! Was hoping for an LPL buff... Maybe next week? Also the SRM 4 and 6 combining is a bit confusing, hopefully once the servers come back up, we can get some testing in to see where the combo stands.

I will give a +1 to bumping the LL trio up to a 3 alpha (or even 4 really)

What happened to "big things"?

Unless that server upgrade will make the game awesome with no hit detection problems, that would be big.

Well, I really enjoyed my 4 LL Stalker. It wasn't overpowered, but it was effective. But now that I can't run that anymore without a penalty, I guess its 2 ER PPC/Gauss?

Also the SRMs are now really confusing. If you're going to link all SRMs together, can we make the limit the same on all of them?

If you DON'T have TAG+ARTEMIS your LRMs are spread all over and even an Atlas will only be hit by about 90% of a volley!

This is false. Even with Artemis, it shouldn't hollow out the CT of a target and leave the rest barely touched.

It's pretty nasty if you get hit by these and it will be a bit more now. Try it out before complaining!

The fact you think artillery and air strikes are remotely useful is almost enough to make me discount your opinion on anything.

None of your business.

OK, let's do away with patch notes entirely then. Stuff just changes, we're never told what or how, we just guess. It's none of our business! We only play the game, after all (and are encouraged to spend our money on it).

Your are crying before seeing how it even works out now?
Grow some back and learn to fight with the environmental handycap as everyone else on the battlefield!

I was in favor of the revised movement mechanics. Doesn't change the fact that more improvements need to be made, largely pretty basic and logical stuff which PGI didn't take time to consider. The pebbles on Canyon were one of those things, but there are more important ones.

3+ months of PPC dominance, yet PGI is deathly afraid of nerfing them. Instead, they decide to nerf Lasers and Missiles.

Question for PGI: Are you going to have a printable version of the Heat Scale charts available by launch so players can know if they are building a Paul Approved™ Mech?

The LL/ERLL/LPL change seems really strange.

I mean, this brings up two questions in my mind:
1) Who was actually using LPL's? The correct answer is: No one who was remotely competitive, because the LPL is currently trash
2) Even if you were using LPL's, why on earth would you pair them in an alpha strike with a LL? The range difference on those two weapons is huge.. The firing time is different. Those weapons simply no not complement each other at all.

It just strikes me as really weird that such a change would even be bothered with. Either there is some kind of secret aspect to the LPL which I am totally unaware of (which is possible), or it demonstrates a point of confusion on PGI's part in terms of how such weapons are used.. or really, how any weapons are used in their game.

The patch notes thread on reddit is a sea of fire as well, this whole set of heat changes is exterminating players new and old, there has to be a better way surely?

Nobody was seriously running 6PPC mechs and those that did sacrificed a lot of capability. Could they have sacrificed more? Yes, let's adjust the heat capacity! Was the solution a byzantine penalty system designed to punish SRM-2 "boating" or smaller mechs' energy loadouts? No.

Will the heat penalty be documented in game with this patch, or will we have to wait for UI 2.0?
