Sydney player here. Patcher is extremely slow. It has taken just over an hour to download 67.39mb. Patcher is always slow but this is really bad. There are no other application running in the background. I have Telstra adsl2 so should be done in minutes.

I checked my Directx, C++, and .NET and they are up to date. I also ran the repair tool from a Nov 2012 forum and it said nothing was wrong and still crashed after I ran it. I also tried reinstalling the game and still crashes
updated my graphic card driver and still crashes

Reinstalling client (2 times), restarting router, using MWORepairTool (4 times) and tambourine didnt helps.
Looks like our Piranha guys tried to optimize game for INTEL, and dont care about those, who have AMD.
AMD FX 8350, HD 7850, 8Gb RAM, win 8 64bit.

It is not consistent. I have an AMD Phenom II x4 and a Radeon 6970 and MWO is running just fine after the patch .. it just took a long time to download the patch. So there is likely more to the issue than just the CPU though that seems to be a common element.
Also, if all AMD CPUs were affected there would be hundreds or thousands of replies in this thread rather than 30 or so.
This is why they need each person with the issue to submit a report including dxdiag results and any crash dump generated in the MWO USER directory. PGI has the tools to find the common elements but they need the data to work with, unfortunately, just saying it crashes or hangs at "Please wait .." doesn't give them enough information to isolate the problem.

EDIT: Well it seems the patcher is still a little testy for me. I don't normally get the carousel error anymore but the patcher still takes its sweet time to load. When it does load it always shows that the server is "offline" at the top indicated by the red line but I have no problem running the game. Also I sometimes get a RSS feed something or other error which only started showing up after the last few patches.

Does your version of Avast allow you to exclude MWO folder/subfolders from active scanning? At times some antivirus programs may be too aggressive in their methods. This is not the first time an antivirus program has caused issues with a game due to new exe having a new checksum that has not been deem ok yet in the database.
