Lava is suppose to be hot and do alot of heat damage it will teach the trial people that lava is bad to stand on or in or get your mechs legs melted off. Think about it lava ( The dark red to bright red lava on Terra Therma) is 2000 degrees Fahrenheit or 1,160 Celsius. Magma (( The hotter lava like that under the platform below that is bright yellow on Terra Therma)) is 1,500°C (2,732°F) Hot enough to melt Steel. Steel melts at 1370 degrees C (2500 °F). Still want to walk in lava? So imo lava damage on the new map is not working correctly it should be avoided like the plague or risk getting severe heat leg damage on your mech. To think about it the mech should be taking heat damage from just being close to the lava source.

So, the results I got were that in standard flowing lava (not the caldera, I didn't test that because I had trouble reaching it without taking fall damage), it took a little over 1m30s for the lava to kill a full-health stock Commando 2D (28HP total per leg). That's under 0.3DPS per leg (since it damages both legs at once), so not even 0.6DPS. I'll post the video once I get it uploaded.

What about heavier mechs like a Atlas?

I didn't test- I went under the assumption that the damage was flat, not percentage. In retrospect, probably not the wisest idea...

EDIT: Fixed the video.
Summary: 1 min 30 sec to deal 28 damage to each leg on a trial Commando.

Don't bring real physics into this.

Good, then everyone should be fine with them making up how much damage you do or don't take. Case closed.

Game balance says otherwise. If the damage is so blatantly negligible, then why bother adding it in the first place?

@Leafia Barrett, you should get into the feedback thread. Notice in this post how someone found more details on the map.

I saw in your video you seem to start taking damage about 70-75% heat, I did not notice when mine happened but La Guillotine found a spot where damage occurred yet the Highlander's heat was going down! (Second video) There is also the invisible wall around the central hole.

Yep.

On the general subject, the lack of any real lava damage makes this map just a big waste. It doesn't really offer anything new other than aesthetics and slightly different terrain. I was excited when I saw that lava damage would be in, but I can take my little jenner and swim all day in the center lava pool and sit at a warm 90% heat with no trouble. There really needs to be varying degrees of leg damage over time depending on which pool you sit in. A tiny (and it's tiny, it takes a while to really heat up) heat raise is lame.

Dark Red Lava proboly 5 dps every 3 seconds
Red Lava proboly 10 dps every 2 seconds
Orange Lava proboly 20 dps every sec
Yellow Lava proboly 30 dps every sec
Bright Yellow Lava proboly 50 dps every sec
White Lava perhaps 70 dps every sec
Bright White Lava maby 100 dps every sec

My thoughts on how lava should damage according to there heat power.

First game on Terra Therma. We're up 8-1 searching for the last mech. Atlas pilot says he wonders what happens in lava. Goes in, gets stuck, dies. :D

Well you know old saying (Curiosity killed the cat cough cough mean Atlas!!!)
