Please make it possible to spend exp on mechs that aren't owned right now. Having to rebuy old variants just so I can spend the exp I already have on elite skills in order to advance other variants to master is painful. If I have the exp, I should be able to spend it, mech in bay or not.
Plus, it would be great if maxed out variants changed color in the mech listing somehow, even if they aren't currently owned. Right now they turn gold if owned, but grey like the rest of sold. That isn't really a big deal but it would be nice to see as an "achievement". Having maxed out all Atlas, Jenners, Jaegers etc I am not going to keep them all, but it'd still be nice to have them "checked off".

Nah...this would allow players to exp from trial mechs, possibly getting master on a chassis without ever owning one.

No, you understood wrong. He wants to be able to allocate the XP he built up on previously owned chasis in their tree once he unlocks a level but sold the mech. Example... you buy 1 Hunch, get all Basic efficiencies done, but can't do any Elite until another 2 Hunchies are done with Basic. You build up 25k XP on that chasis but have to sell because you don't have room in garage. Buy second Hunch and third Hunch, unlock all Basic. NOW he wants to allocate that banked 25k XP to the first chasis Elite tree.

Thanks, that is what I meant.

I actually don't see a problem with this. If you've earned enough XP to master a mech, whether it's owned, loaned, or borrowed, then why should it matter how you got that XP?

Would it make sense? Yes.
Will it happen? Probably not, simply for grinding's sake. (The grind, or reduction there of, is what makes them money).
Still, it's not like they can't track your mech ownership and simply unlock it for any mech chassis you've ever owned.

There really isn't anything to "track". If you have XP in a chasis, you OWNED THAT MECH at some point in time. But since you've sold it, you can no longer progress in the tech tree. It makes no sense... because if you Master out a mech, then sell it, if you re-buy it 2 years later it will still be Master level.

If you had the Chasis at one point, and you currently have enough XP on said chasis to purchase an upgrade, why didn't you buy the upgrade BEFORE you sold it? That would solve all your problems.
If you're talking about spending XP from one chasis to level up a different one, well that's GXP, all you gotta do is shell out the cash to convert it.

But what if you didn't master it, just got the basics?
Or if it was a trial mech? (I got out of trials early, but I've got like 7-8K unspent XP in one chasis I've never owned).
My thought was, once you've purchased the mech, you can spend XP on it, regardless if you sell it later.
