I had to do a search to figure out what "DDO" was. (Dungeons & Dragons Online for those stumped as well)

Prices will continue to go up as long as people show that they are willing to buy. When sales slump, it goes on a reduced price sale to promote more moved units.

Like game developers who moved PC games up to $60 from MSRP of $50. This 20% increase in price was not reflected into Console prices, so it merely shows that the developer was punishing the PC consumer only, trying to see if they can get more money out of the community by usually providing less and less and moving more and more content over to expansion packs.

80 dollars for collectors editions is about normal these days. The regular edition is 30 dollars.

I dont see what all the whining and freaking out is about.

The DDO model is not truly free-to-play. There are quests that are free, however they are few, and you are very restricted. They sell a subscription that allows access to all quests. But if you want to play it for free, and have access to all the quests, you first must spend a lot of money.

I have been playing DDO since it was released, and do not intend on spending that much on the expansion. MWO is getting my money first. :)

The expansion will be available for around $30, a no-frills version (no useless pets and crap like that).

Why is it any time someone asks a question, its "whining" "crying" or "freaking out"?

Because most of the time it is.

Because your question was based on bad information.

And DDO is one of the more Free to play games I've seen. As you can easily get to lv 20+ without buying a single damn thing. Ever.
If you want to work on a perfect character or want variaty in your quests. You don't have to spend much. In fact I think it was $30-40 worth of game cash that unlocks everything and their mother.

Easily? Hah! Not really. It's a very grindy game, but none of the quests have that grindy feel to them. It ust takes VERY long to level your character, and that's keeping in mind that it only goes from 1-20 (25 for epic).

It's the standard childish response that most people have. They don't know how to properly and maturely deal with negative criticism, comments, etc. So they just equate it to being an unjustifiable complaint, whine or the like.

We have a supervisor who (understandably) fires people on the spot who have that kind of mentality. Because it's pretty much just dismissive of addressing the consumer's concern.

I found the page by clicking on a link I got in an email. It directed me to a page where the first thing I saw what looked like a $79.99 pricetag and that pretty much killed all interest in it lol I didnt even know there was a $30 variant till I saw it here.

On a side note I hear the "entitled" mindset is so bad they have consultants that go to big companies to teach them how to coddle the newer job seekers.

Yeah, if not priced right, I will actually put off buying the game til it's significantly cheaper, or completely at all. I've seen a lot of developers lately charging more and giving out less. It seems to be a philosophy for many of them. Screw the consumer! They'll be back for more! :)

Why is it whining and freaking out.

OP is obviously amazed and worried enough to come here and post about it and at the same time giving out bad information of the actual price. If the OP spent atleast 10 more seconds they would have noticed that was the price of the collectors edition and not the standard price for the game. I really cant stand when people go around acting like there sounding an alarm to something that does not even require it in first place.
