I would have jumped on board the King Crab boat in a heartbeat.... but.... PGI kinda ruined mech chassis like the King Crab for me with thier generic slot system. What can the king crab do that we can't already do with existing chassis? I really wish they would have had a slightly more restrictive slot system for weapons so that not all the chassis are the same. As it sits new mechs are kinda boring as they really don't add anything new to the game. And mechs like the Hunchback, Awesome, and King Crab lose what made them special. :D

while I am all for proper hard point restrictions, I would point out that no Assault Mech currently can mount 2 ac/20 or gauss.

And why would you need to when you can pull it off with a lighter faster mech? Phracts and Jaggers and K2's all run that config just fine.

and carry a fraction the armor.

Now imagine running into a mech with the armor of an Atlas in one of the tunnels carrying 2 AC20 and support weapons. No slower than the ac40 cat, and far less fragile than any of the above mentioned.

I understand where you are going, but it just doesn't appeal to me knowing that a K2 cat can run around with the same config. It loses its 'uniqueness'. Just my personal opinion, not asking you to share it. :D

The K2 and Jagers are reduced to firesupport roles as a result of their fragility. The KGC will be a nasty, max armoured spearhead with Jagermech/Cataphract firepower. But It's 100 tons... So with weight limits it will be a signifigant investment to bring one in competitive play since it will siphon off tonnage in other fields. Then there is the manouverability issues.


If anything the kingcrab will have alot in common with the cataphract. Low mounted ballistic weapons with a large and wide torso profile. It's unique in the sense that It's one of the few non humanoid assault mechs. It would be the only dedicated ballistic platform in the Assault mech lineup for MWO.

If I hear an announcement for this mech, it would likely be the first time I would literally throw money at my screen.

I feel we should Revive the campaign! Let our voices be heard by PGI! We want our KCGs!

No thanks, stupid mech. Doesn't make any sense either, it's center of gravity is leaning over top it's legs, it would fall over.

That, however, is addressed by either compressing it lengthwise (as Bishop's design has done) or more-evenly distributing the length of the body both fore & aft of the legs' attachment point (as Haruko's design has done).

I'd prefer the regular 50t Crab over the King Crab simple because i enjoy mediums more than assaults, but the king crab would probably add more to the game.

In terms off assaults it might make more sense to close the tonnage gab between the Stalker and Atlas first, but I'm still looking forward to this chassis.

if it ever happens, it will be slow. It will get picked apart by lights, then everyone that bought a king crab will be calling for the nerfing of everything it isn't fast enough to track

The KGC does not need to be the best Mech to be loved and bought.
It is sufficient that it is by far the coolest and prettiest.
