I'm not sure what game you're playing, but it's not MWO.. because 3PV is obviously a huge advantage.

Sorry Roland. I respect your opinion. I really do. I just don't think it's as big of an advantage as people are making it out to be. I don't think it's a deal killer at all.

Show me this supposed contract that was signed by both parties which indicated that 3PV would never enter the game in any form. It doesn't exist. PGI said they had no plans to implement 3PV and that their commitment to 1PV was firm. That's it. If you don't understand the difference between that and "we promise we'll never, ever put 3PV in at all in any form", I don't know what to tell you.

No you see they only greatly implied no 3PV which was a huge concern and stated they were 'firm' about 1PV.

Its not at all them lying through their teeth to get Founder's Gold then doubling back on their word later on to get the Mech Assault audience.

watching the twitch feed, seems like some of the drawbacks are acceptable for 3pv. Arms always locked, no minimap, zooming not as good.

So they both know where the other is, when if he had stuck with 1pv then neither would know where the other was. Not sure if that's better or worse or just different.

Except the guy down low can see exactly where the guy up top is looking.

How about this?

How much clearer do you need it? Forget seismic, if I want to have a peek over a ridge I just use 3PV.

Not that we predicted this or anything.

It's a toggle. I don't know what you mean by splitting up the queues. Did they say there would be separate queues?

if they absolutely insist on it being in the game, there should be no HUD whatsoever, and no zoom.

It shouldn't be in the game.

Yes, there will be a "normal" queue which includes 1/3pv, and then a "hardcore" queue for people who only want to play 1pv.

It's effectively the same view that we had in 3PV servers in MW4... and it was an immense advantage there. The only way you could compete in 1PV was when the server forced it.

No one played in 1PV when you could run 3PV, because you would get crushed.

The idea of the little hovering thing above you could help slightly to address that, but the advantage will still be significant.

Additionally, for light mechs it will make maneuvering at high speeds far easier.

It's just really disappointing.

Okay, taking your example what if the guy down low was looking to the left or right, then the guy up top has the advantage.

Yes, the people who want 1PV only won't be forced to play against 3PV players.

Ahh, well that's unfortunate. I could see where that might cause issues. But only time will tell.

There's going to be a mixed queue and a 1PV only "hardcore" queue.

Barely anyone will play it, ELO won't work when people do play it due to such a small playerbase, and PGI will say "no one used it so we're combining the queues together. Sorry, but that was our position at the time."

I find its a very reasonable implementation.

While you have a field of view advantage, the missing minimap, locked arms and the 3pv-drone make it quite fair. Not to mention that it seems, from what i saw on the stream, a bit harder to place precision shots and fight close distance engagements (like 200m and under)

Trade offs are great. Compromises.
I don't like 3rd person View (3pv).
However when used, no minimap, limits twist/arm movement, no real HUD advantages and barely a sight advantage of slightly larger view angle.

I only hope that end up not splitting modes to dwindle the match making.

Except that the guy up top has no idea where the guy down low is looking. While the guy down low can tell exactly where the guy up top is looking.

Oh well. It's in the game. There's nothing we can do now.

I am skeptical as to whether this is going to be the case now. I suspect that they are going to put everyone together.

The chances that anyone currently playing will switch to this mode in normal games are slim in my opinion. All it does is possibly attract new people, who after trying first person will switch to first person because of how much more useful it is overall. If they're smart anyway.

I'd wager that in 1st view you could freelook and see all the same ****. So ya, I'd call that minimal.

But you people probably have never free looked before so theres that.

You also pretty much lose all sight of whats directly infront of you, WHICH ID ARGUE IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT
