And the transition from simulation to arcade is complete, well done.... I do enjoy the subtle humor of making the 3pv toggle "F4"

Show me this supposed contract that was signed by both parties which indicated that 3PV would never enter the game in any form. It doesn't exist. PGI said they had no plans to implement 3PV and that their commitment to 1PV was firm. That's it. If you don't understand the difference between that and "we promise we'll never, ever put 3PV in at all in any form", I don't know what to tell you.

No actually they said they planned to investigate 3rd person in the future and MWO would only be 1st person "out the gate and in the near future" (i.e. open beta to now).

See sig. Huge doesn't live in reality.

I was just in a match where a poptart was using it behind a hill to look at me. Every time he started to jump his little blinking ball of 3pvness announced that fact. He knew exactly where I was, and as soon as his torso was above the ridge it got hit with an alpha. I cored him to red internals, and he didn't even scratch my paint.

I will give him points for effort though because he kept trying to do it.

It never ceases to amaze me the capacity of people to forget. PGI said no 3PV. It doesn't even matter if it is terrible or vastly inferior. It was PROMISED when they were selling Founder's.

It was a term of the contract between them and us. The fact is they lied and took our money while breaking their word. You defending them for this proves you have the memory of a gold fish or no spine. Being lied to your face and hands in your pocket is ok.

Pathetic.

OH NO! HOW DARE THEY CHANGE THEIR MINDS ABOUT THEIR PRODUCT!!!
No one really care other than a overly vocal minority that continues to play hours a week even though you cry all the time. If you don't like it then shut up and stop play/posting on the forums.

I'm REALLY sick of you guys thinking that you have some right to tell PGI/IGP what to do.

So yeah. Potentially you could shoot down the drone in the future.

That would be awesome just in general. They should totally make that the case. Not sure I would always shoot it down though. It helps show where they are.

Because this game is only alive because of the Founder's and their overly generous early contributions. Contributions that were collected when PGI made promises about the kind of game we would be getting. If they said they were making Mech Assault: Online. It would not have gotten nearly as much support because most BT fans enjoy the simulation aspect of the game.

Now a year later they are breaking those promises and destroying the pillars the game was supposed to be built on.

After they used our money to do exactly what they said they were not going to.

I would expect a reasonable person to recognize when they're getting pumped behind a dumpers but I can clearly see MWO is infested with your kind. People with no standards or principles. PGI can crap in your cereal every morning and you would thank them for their generation personal attention to their player base.

Uh... If they want to sell us stuff, then yeah, I would say that we get to tell them what to do, and if they don't want to listen then they don't get our money

I like to buy a little extra MC from time to time even if I wouldn't have normally just to offset a hater.

I'm curious if those of the 3PV IS OP mindset have played it yet, or tried it in-game before commenting. It's okay if you don't like the idea that you've formed in your own mind, but have you tested the implementation of it in-game? In my experience, it presented fascinating tradeoffs that did NOT result in any significant advantage. There could still be some changes, but overall I think this was well done. Thanks for giving us a chance to test this PGI.

If anything, the major item that "sticks out" to me after testing it was the view change happened too quickly. I think having the switch to 3PV be a process of "unloading the drone" would solve most of the "what's over the hill!? quick, change back to aim!" possibilities - make the view switch take a few seconds (time to be determined by testing). This would provide an interesting and possibly strategic choice to make, which is a good thing.

Just don't test it if you don't want it. But if enough people show interest. Then clearly they had good reason to bother with it. Personally I don't feel it was needed or should have spent time working on it. But it is what it is.

I just don't want to play against or with 3PV players. As long as that is still the case. I'm okay with it.

Most of the people in the drops seem fine with it.

Yeah I think this needs to happen. I was playing around with this while poptarting and I think this is the only way you can really "exploit" 3pv as it is.

Yeah, gosh darn it. I used to be a man of principle and then I decided for myself that 3PV didn't look so bad and now I'm robbing banks and punching puppies.

Oh no nothing that extreme. You're just fine with people stealing from you and lying to your face. Your Father must be proud of the respectable lad you turned out to be.

While it does offer a decent visual advantage, you're arms are locked, you have a bright blinking "I am here, click me!" light above your head. you can't free look like you can in 1pv, you're minimap is missing (which is what I personally use to keep track of my torso/leg positioning.), and the camera bobs up and down like a drunkard. The only outright advantage is a commander of an 8 man group co-coordinating the rest of the team, and light 'mechs when they're scouting and capturing (in combat they'll have to use 1pv or lose a lot of accuracy due to the bob is severe on lights.

the list:
+Situation awareness
+Light 'mech controlability due to vision increase
+Commanders can see the battlefield better

-Arms semi locked
-no minimap
-"I am here, click me!" light on the camera drone
-Cross hair bobs
-no free look (thank god, gods, etc.)

+/-/? You can look at your 'Mechs fancy arse/back.

If I play with it available I'll probably use it until I see a target then zip back to 1pv for rest of fight.

You too? I've just been pillaging Victoria Secrets and then running through Times square wearing my newly acquired loot.
