Hello, I am new to the game, well still downloading it.
It looks like a game i will enjoy quite a lot. but on the video's i've seen so far, there are only Lasers and Rockets... both probably provides heavy firepower, but is there some kind of "sniper" mechs? with High cal. weapons? I am not so much fan of snipers in games like COD etc, cus its just camping, but when it comes to teamplay and objectives i do love to play as a "sniper" suppress fire... yeah you get it. so i was wondering is there some mechtypes that can provide this gameplay? thanks.

There is a difference in Mechwarrior Games to other games.
The bigger the Gun the less the range.
That means "High Caliber" Guns like the AC20 are for close combat, while "low caliber" guns like the AC2 or AC5 are for long range combat.
But: you should never go on only one kind of range. Your Mech needs to be flexible, so you can fight close and long range.

There are also several types of autocannons which are an important type of weapon. these range from small, fast-fire AC2s up to the huge short range AC20. The gauss rifle is another ballistic weapon, 15 damage and a range of 660. Most autocannons deal good damage with great range and heat, but have limited ammunition.
Autocannons, gauss rifles, and PPCs/ERPPCs are all 'sniper' type weapons, long range, good damage, and pin-point damage delivery instead of damage-over-time like a laser beam.

Right now one of the Trial mechs carries the "Long Range Sniper" type weapon. The Gauss Rifle. It is the Trial Atlas RS (C).
The mech is the biggest and slowest we have but it is kind of the weapon you are looking for... might want to experiment with that.

also keep in mind, just because you use a long range weapon does not mean you have to camp one spot and wait.
My favorite Quickdraw has 2 ERPPCs and two medium lasers, the ERPPCs can do damage out to over a kilometer and a half away, but the mech also runs at 96 kph so I can be in one part of the map laying down suppression fire, then I can quickly move to another part of the map to join a skirmish or a flanking maneuver. The ERPPCs deal just as much damage at close range as they do at 810 meters, allowing their use in both sniping engagements and brawls, and everything in between.
autocannons and gauss rifles also deal full damage at close range.

Gauss Rifle, ER PPC/PPC, and AC/2 (just to harass them and make them hide if they are the panicky type).
