If you don't like the dance/trance music please mute the sound as I do not care for your opinion on it. I made this video around 2004 when I was 14 and was working my way up the ranks of SiN. During that time, the Mechwarrior Leagues community was very strong, and our roster was around 15-20 active pilots.

This video was taken during the trial of entry for when we absorbed several of the Wolfs Freelancers. To this day they continue to wear the SiN tags and await to be awoken from cryo stasis to fight again.

LOL... all that jazz aside, I thought I would share what robotic combat use to be like. A time when you could stare your enemy in the eyes, take a punch and without flinching throw one back. A time when it wasn't about the config, but how you piloted your mech. Hope some of you enjoy this, because I know I still stare at my joystick that's collecting dust, hoping that one day we can return to this existence.

Well. If its all about piloting, my Awesomes typically make short work of the roughly 70% of "cheese" build players who forget to watch their 3's and 9's, but i feel yah man, I still play MW4:M quite a bit <_<

Roger that.

IMO there is no cheese builds in this game, just broken mechanics to go with broken weapons. Maintaining range based on the weapons you took is not cheesing, thats just playing the meta game that PGI created which has progressively gotten worse. I'd probably have more fun playing MW4.

Is there a few servers still alive with atleast a handful of players some nights? When is it more active? I'll gladly re install MW4 if theres still a small community playing.

Indeed those fights in MWO would be over in 10 seconds. Note the destructible trees and knock downs (not to mention balance).

Say it bro. I thought the game engine for MW4 was bad.... but yet some of the things I took for granted are almost none existent in today's games.

It was a real honor to participate in the ToE's. Basically you would fight in a light, medium, heavy and assault of your choice, verse another SiN member. This wasn't a "beat on him because hes new" type scenario, but to show your possible strengths/weaknesses, how you piloted, the types of configs you favored and the rank you would start at. I took over the Assaults (SiN Scythe was original assault pilot) and typically ran my Daishi (Clan Assault, 100 tons, Clan Designation: Dire Wolf). 6 Rotary Auto Cannon 2's supported by 3 er large lasers. With proper trigger discipline (At one time I could use the same discipline to shoot the Ultra 5's in MWO till they broke em) you could fire the rotary's till you ran dry, and the ERL was perfect for making those small holes from the auto cannons bigger. I would hover 800+ meters out and on that map at that distance it would be hard to see.

Thanks for watching though, still brings back great memories.

Very nice :D

The Hunchback was a great little 'mech, but the Nova was extremely tough. Partially due to it's profile, partially because mektek had a habit of building tough 'mechs (Ares, Hollander, etc. - they got creative with the hit-boxes). The second match was sweet, legging the Nova was the right thing to do for sure.

Thanks for watching. I agree the mechs that mektek pumped out really captured the true construction of some of the mechs. I agree that the nova sometimes was just too much to handle trying to go for a torso shot, as it had no torso twist and the only time it was facing you was when it was going to strike. Was real easy to spread damage among all it's torso's. Especially in a dual it's all about getting as much damage out as quickly as possible, and waiting for that perfect shot can sometimes mean the end.

Roger that I'll start looking into it tonight. Looking forward to putting proper piloting skills to use and to use my joystick once again.

I am honestly floored every single day when I think about this game, how it once was and the current state it is in. I literally started as a single person playing this game and I brought over 30+ people into the unit, and we were all playing at one time. Now I'm back to being the only person browsing the forums, because no one wants to play a game that is broken, ill-equiped and unbalanced. No one also wants to support a developer that has been constantly producing new mechs that have to be purchased with cash, when the game play is still in shambles. I think it's funny how the current crowd is divided in half. One half is the players that were in prior to open beta, that got to get a real feel for the game (Before criticals, heat scaling, mechs that had to be purchased for specific configs) and the other half are the gamers that only know what has been released, which honestly isn't much since the beginning of open beta.

All of us on gameranger would be glad to have you and any more that want to come over and play. MechWarrior type games supported are MechCommander-MechCommander2-Mechwarrior3-Mechwarrior3 expansions-Mechwarrior4 Vengeance-Mechwarrior4 Black Knight-Mechwarrior4 Mercenaries-And the Mektek 3.1 mod for Mechwarrior4 Mercenaries. I agree with a lot of what you have said and many would like to go back to the beginning of closed beta set down with all the PGI staff Russ and Brian and say hey lets make this MechWarrior first not WOT/MWO or COD/MWO but it is what it is and all we can do is see if it does a 360 turnaround before final release.
