Konnichi-Wa Mechwarriors
As a relatively new Member of the 36th Dieron Regulars, I was asked to give my perspective about this Unit right here in this forum. So let's start with an Intro.
As a fan of Mechwarrior for Decades, Mechwarrior 2 + GBL were my first MW-Games, when I saw the trailer für MWO, I was instantly hooked. The graphics looked great, the premise seemend very promising. Only one thing bothered me: As I found out... it was going to be Multyplayer and I always was a sucker for Story and Lore and Multyplayer-Games never scratched that itch for me.
Since it would be Free2Play, I decided to give it a shot anyway in 2012, but I never considered joining a Unit as it would mean, having to get to know new people, having to be at "Guild-Raids" or else be asked questions... for short it seemed like time-consuming work to me. So MWO was an On/Off-Experience for me. It was fun enough that I kept coming back, but it wasn't enough to keep me in.
Fast forward to October 2016: In a PUG-Match I had the honor to play with Hoshi Toranaga, a Member of the 36th Dieron, who send me a link to their Homepage and invited me to join them. He seemed like a nice person, so I gave their site a shot and after reading a bit through former applications I was a bit surprised. The tone of its members seemed fun already, although I didn't even cross the line of writing an application yet. So this Unit seemed interesting enough for me to give this guys a try. And I wasn't disappointed.
I enjoy my time with the 36th Dieron so much. The Leadership is very human, open and welcoming, while you still get that they are experienced Mechwarriors, some evening running their engines since the Tabletop-Games.
And that are just the officers. We have many different persons, many different characters, but everyone is getting along very well. Even when it is getting heated in the fight, it seems with the 36th it's very much like: A fight is a fight and a Unit is a Unit. The fight stays on the Battlefield, not inside the Unit. When we drop together I can always be sure to have fun. When I join the TS I always have nice chats or when I have questions, I never feel like too much a rookie.
The 36th Dieron to me is a Down-to-Earth-Unit that works because of the atmosphere the players generate, the way people are integrated into the Unit and through motivation and comradie packs a punch.
I am not able to tell if this playstyle is for all of you, and that isn't my task anyway. But I welcome you to try us. Don't believe a word I say... put it to the test.
Thank you for your time.
Banzai and see you on the field.

P.S.: And yes you even can have roleplay in the forums if you wish... but you don't have to. ;-)
