Game Keeps Freezing

I have noticed a few things about my crashes. It happens with higher frequency on the larger maps like Tourmalline and Alpine Peaks. Very often there is a green laser beam all the way across the screen when it freezes. I have been running with task manager open when I play, and when I get a freeze, I can see the memory usage for mech warrior continue to climb steadily after the client has frozen. In the Omicron logs I consistently see an error regarding 3 dangerous texture files (single mip only) that appear to be related to lasers. This is usually followed by 3 to 5 error lines that say "Runaway Thread". This would explain the memory leak I see after the game crashes. But none of this information seems to be helpful in solving the problem, because I see more and more of us having this problem with increasing regularity.
I'm sorry if you have paid actual money for this game. I won't in the state it's in right now.

It cuts off the game at a overload to the cpu which is the problem of the freezing so somewhere something is way off.
Which I did not have this problem few days ago I was able to play wonderfully till now.
Was going to grind up for my Atlas this week. And tweak up my Victor a bit more on the Camo's so I was able to play before this bug came.
My computer stats is not awesome in fact it sucks but nor is it so weak that it would stop me from playing on medium setting graphics before the patching. Something else is draining my cpu from the game files.

I have Windows 8. I've been having the client freeze every other game or so. I think that setting compatibility to Windows XP seems to fix it, but I'm not sure.
Thanks mate, couldn't play the game for MONTH, but this little tweak helped me out, could play 5 games now ... only one memory leak error but no more freezes.
EDIT: LOL wrote hat, entered the next game and got a freeze while we were winning

I don't think it can hurt the cpu I just think it just knows it is overwhelmed and quits trying to process what its trying to process anything over 100%.

There is no set number, but there is a difference between when it locks up and I can get it back, and when it is gone for good. I run with task manager open on the other monitor, watch it the whole time. If it freezes, I immediately alt+tab over to the task manager, and watch the memory. If it is holding relatively steady, I know I can get it back, but if it is slowly marching up about 300 to 500 K a second, I have to shut down mech warrior with the task manager. Seems to be generally when commited is running in the 800,000 KB or higher range.

That's with a Core2Quad, GTX260, Win7 64bit, not that it matters, because multiple people get the exact same thing at the same time in game, so it's obviously not a client hardware issue.
