I have been fighting this issue for a while. Since well before this patch. I have looked at logs, reinstalled my OS with a fresh install of Windows 7, updated ALL my drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the game countless times. Run the repair tool, looked at logs, sent in logs to the devs, etc. etc. etc.

I have noticed a few things about my crashes. It happens with higher frequency on the larger maps like Tourmalline and Alpine Peaks. Very often there is a green laser beam all the way across the screen when it freezes. I have been running with task manager open when I play, and when I get a freeze, I can see the memory usage for mech warrior continue to climb steadily after the client has frozen. In the Omicron logs I consistently see an error regarding 3 dangerous texture files (single mip only) that appear to be related to lasers. This is usually followed by 3 to 5 error lines that say "Runaway Thread". This would explain the memory leak I see after the game crashes. But none of this information seems to be helpful in solving the problem, because I see more and more of us having this problem with increasing regularity.

I'm sorry if you have paid actual money for this game. I won't in the state it's in right now.

Floowid, in the Task Manager, click on the Performance Tab then Memory, when in the Mech Lab, what is the Committed Numbers? What is it at the start of a match (once everyone starts moving)? And when it freezes?

I tried it on windowed mode I just had a cpu dump from overload to cpu there is a massive cpu leak when I try to play the game even in window mode. That is what is causing the freezing is the cpu is being strain to it's limit and just cuts the game off. It went to 100% then it shuts the game off ( the freezing problem). But after the dump is where it freezes it goes down to 21% and stays there and thats where the game is cut off and unrecoverable which has to be forced closed.

Pretty sad really. I have played 1 and a half game before it froze and I had to close it down. Using Windows 7, not using avast LOL. Surprised about noticeable lag overall it is only 24 players max. My PC is plenty powerful, should run smoothly. Now you just die too quick !

Well I guess I have to wait this out for a hotfix so at the moment the game is 100% broke down to me every time I drop in testing grounds to see if it it will be stable even on any map I choose the cpu leaks out to 100% then dumps the game memory off and goes to 21% and sits there and the game is inert a doing nothing. At the mainscreen it hovers roughly at 60% Cpu after logging back in the game after force close via task manager. Goes to 98% when I do anything on the main screen like mechlab or pilotlab.

It cuts off the game at a overload to the cpu which is the problem of the freezing so somewhere something is way off.

Which I did not have this problem few days ago I was able to play wonderfully till now.

Was going to grind up for my Atlas this week. And tweak up my Victor a bit more on the Camo's so I was able to play before this bug came.

My computer stats is not awesome in fact it sucks but nor is it so weak that it would stop me from playing on medium setting graphics before the patching. Something else is draining my cpu from the game files.

Windows 7
2.60GHz
4GB Ram
64 Bit

I was able to play in full window for 5 minutes in testing grounds without a freeze I'm going to try fullscreen next and report my results.

Trying Sarah's Jenner first then going to repeat the test on my Victor.

I have Windows 8. I've been having the client freeze every other game or so. I think that setting compatibility to Windows XP seems to fix it, but I'm not sure.

Thanks mate, couldn't play the game for MONTH, but this little tweak helped me out, could play 5 games now ... only one memory leak error but no more freezes.

EDIT: LOL wrote hat, entered the next game and got a freeze while we were winning :)

Windows 7 64 bit:
Intel i7-3960 overclocked to 4.6GHZ

I'm able to play the game now but getting insane lag in the 12v12's and huge cpu leakage but not enough to cpu dump yet. I'm running on settings low as it gets and getting stuttering lag when I pilot the Sarah's Jenner. But still able to play but far from smooth have not gotten a freeze yet i'm glad for that now but the lag is horrible rough. Still getting cpu leakage perhaps I may have to upgrade my cpu and motherboard and ram to allow higher functions if it can't get smoother.

I really didn't want to pay 2000 bucks to get a I7 processor, ram, motherboard and a high end videocard right now. And I really can't upgrade just the cpu without first replacing the motherboard cause the cpu is only as fast as the motherboard.

Just froze twice in a row. Seems to happen a lot when brawling. When I was sniping it was fine. Is the CPU overloading dangerous to the CPU? If so I guess I can't play or PGI owes me a new CPU lol

I don't think it can hurt the cpu I just think it just knows it is overwhelmed and quits trying to process what its trying to process anything over 100%.

There is no set number, but there is a difference between when it locks up and I can get it back, and when it is gone for good. I run with task manager open on the other monitor, watch it the whole time. If it freezes, I immediately alt+tab over to the task manager, and watch the memory. If it is holding relatively steady, I know I can get it back, but if it is slowly marching up about 300 to 500 K a second, I have to shut down mech warrior with the task manager. Seems to be generally when commited is running in the 800,000 KB or higher range.

I started getting this after the last big patch. It freezes the screen and usually I can alt tab out. Wait and then come back and the game is running again. Tonight I froze when it was loading River City. My clan mates said I did not drop into the game when it started. I alt tabbed and was stuck at a black screen. I then tried the Task Manager and it would not come up. I was about to give up and then task manager finally showed up. I alt tabbed back just to check and by some miracle I dropped into the game well late but at least I got in. I have Win 8 and i7 and 16gb and Geforce 660ti graphics card.

Game has run great besides this problem that happens occasionally now.

The FPS got fixed which I thought the freezing stopped with it but I just now froze again in Caustic Vally. I done a complete computer diagnostic clean junk files, defraged, Registery file errors repaired so I still don't know now what is cause the freeze. I'll do another cpu scan while the game is on.

For me, it only has ever happened playing my spider. Sometimes while firing lasers, but generally at the start of a match. My computer hardware is not the issue.

Have it almost every game, from little 1-2 second stutters to full on 10-15 client freezes.

That's with a Core2Quad, GTX260, Win7 64bit, not that it matters, because multiple people get the exact same thing at the same time in game, so it's obviously not a client hardware issue.
