As a long, long time fan of FASA and the Battletech franchise (way back to when BT was called Battledroids!) I can't be more excited about this project. A MMO model for a Mechwarrior game is a perfect fit for the universe. I mean the warding houses and clans are screaming MMO!
All the best.

I got hooked on MW4 when I was in high school and was a very active player and involved in the clans. There just wasn't (and still hasn't been since then) any other game quite like Mechwarrior. The simulator aspect of the game is what really held my interest. The fact that you had to manage your heat levels, wait for ammunition to cycle, control your jump-jets... just everything about it was amazing. I definitely understand the need to address the circle-strafing and long range sniping issues, but that was a fun part of the game nonetheless. I think to completely drop the large, open area maps would be dishonoring the authentic feel of MW4.
I hope you guys keep up the good work and post a lot of media as soon as it's ready. I have been waiting many years to get my hands on new MW info.
P.S. If anyone reading this was part of the MW4 clan called Crimson Knights, this is CrK_ShadowMech. Remember me? Let's get it going again.

TO THE DEV'S AND LEGAL TEAM.
"the big twelve"
when you picked up the IP rights ( FASA -> whizkids -> etc) did you check out any potential issues that might arise in reguards to the origional twelve mechs from the origional game ? ( the whole macross issue)
to itterate;- when the Board game was released back in the early 1980's FASA used some manga images as the basis for the 12 origional mech's, and there have been legal issues in the past.
have these issues been resolved ? will it be possible to drive a locust, stinger, wasp, battlemaster, etc before we all run off to buy madcats/timber wolf's ?
because i really do hope so
(lot of good comments about "oh i remember playing it on this console or that" ...
hehe, i still have my old boxed set, tech books, mapboards and mech board figures packed in a box in the loft... )
you think thats bad... chap i wargamed with decades ago.. i asked him how many mech models he had ...the reply was " two of everything, and four if it's House Stiener"

*I noticed some people discussing Mechassault after reading some more. I really liked that game too. It was a lighter version of a sim, with the simplified controls and lack of options. It lacked no amount of action, and could at times be just as intense as a full Mechwarrior battle. The graphics were great. It was also much easier to just sit down and jump right into. Say what you may about it not being a true sim, it was a great game none the less. I also loved that the controls were simple enough to allow me to easily dominate an Atlas or two or three with nothing more than an elemental.
