Good lord....
So much tonnage all week. Averaging 2-3 Victors per team, DDC's back in force, and Highlanders doing their old poptarting thing.
Out of curiosity, what's holding PGI back from introducing the tonnage limit and fixing their broken matchmaker?

Tonnage can be a negative. I've been leveling highlanders, so I can master my HM I've had for awhile (got it on sale). Playing my energy weapon focused HGN and in this pug my team had 2 mediums, 5 heavies, and 3 assaults (including my HGN). The enemy team had 4 lights, a Jager, a Phract, and at least one Atlas. It was on Terra Therma and was conquest. We simply couldn't hold even one control point and though we did kill a couple mechs we lost badly (like 750 to 120).
All that said...
I'm pretty sure the reason it cannot currently be added to the matchmaker is the lack of UI 2.0 features. If all it can do is go 'these people chose these mechs' and then needs to match Elo and tonnage it's doomed to failure. We already have Elo match making issues with 7 or even 6 person teams because it cannot find people to fill slots on teams... Can you imagine the issues if we it had to figure in raw tonnage?

Plenty of other game's matchmakers seem to make do with balancing skill across teams and groups of players.
And if you are a certain class (or in this game, weight tier) then you pay for that in needing to sit in longer queues.
I'm just saying; It'd be nice to play a fair game more often than not. Doesn't matter what game you're playing, it's still just a game and if it's not fair, then why play?

I just had a match with a tonnage difference of 125 tons from my team to theirs. We were short. They had 2 atlas and a stalker. we had no assaults. There were no lights in the match. we got murdered, even though everyone played fairly well for the bit it lasted. the enemy found out what we had going, and what they had going, and just blobbed up and trampled us.
Two matches earlier. My team, my 9M, 4 lights, 2 meds and a catapult. Them: 2 Awesome, HGN, Victor, and then whatever else was down in the city. We got blown away. The lights tried to take their base after we got hammered, but they just marched the 4 assaults in a lineup the hill and covered the base. Yes they played well. But so did my team, but it doesnt matter when they have over 100 tons on your team.
I have not seen so many mediums and lights on at once, in like forever. Which is ok, I like to see them. but not when the enemy gets an Atlas for our Trebuchet, and a Stalker for our Quickdraw.
Sorry to vent, but I thought they had at least this aspect of MM sort of figured out. I had'nt seen such horrid match-ups for tonnage in several weeks.

Having pure assaults on Conquest on the large maps, or even in Assault (especially Terra Therma with its very rough terrain) can be a recipe for disaster if the enemy has even one light mech with a mentally competent driver in it. I tend to get screwed over by the MM more by being on pure slow teams more often than I do by having my team underweight.

Hey, PGI clearly wants us to test PPC/Gauss, so who can blame everyone for hopping in the robots best suited to carry PPC/Gauss?

The problem is I don't think we have enough concurrent users playing enough diversified weight ranges. It's also programed to 'launch anyways' if it cannot fill a team within the limit. Hence all the 6 or 7 person teams.
UI 2.0 is probably our last best hope should it include the ability to switch mechs within the team building queue rather than having to decide before launching for a round. With the context changed the game can enforce balance over the group and let the players determine who to divide up the tonnage.

Hello guys! i have been looking all around the internet for my question but I can't find any answer.
Question:
Is it possible to increase the tonnage of my mech? if yes, how do you do it?
thanks guys!

Unless there is a competent pilot on that all assault team too who types in "defend base". Super heavy drops just need to stay at base...and do....and win.
