Poll: MVP Award at the end of each match? (13 member(s) have cast votes)

Would you like to see a feature that allows a winning team to vote for an MVP award for someone who contributed to the battle?

There has to be a way to reward players for contributing something special to the battle. It can be that Spider pilot who distracted an entire lance away so your team could hammer the others

This is often a thankless but effective strategy even if it hardly gets this pilot a good amount of C-Bills at the end of the fight!

Or maybe a really good team captain who had a brilliant plan and kept the guys focused to win the match.

A reward for a stylish but effective mech could also be in order.

Or what about that guy who just kicked the other team's ***?

The point is, its always good to reward fun behavior. So why not have a winning team vote for an MVP at the end of each match?

In the end, we play because we like to try things out in a fight. Anything that takes the dullness out of the daily grind is a positive thing.

I'm sure a small XP and/or C-Bill boost would be appreciated by anybody proclaimed the match MVP. And you also be known as a great guy to play with.

Some game systems call it a "fellowship award".

I can't think of how it could be abused.

What do you think?

I would love to see something that the community/players/team award to MVPs. However, before that happens, I would still love to see a better selection of in-game tactics-based rewards that offer incentives for different styles of play, and which advantage particular loadouts or 'Mech types.

For example, off the top of my head, I can think of several ways besides number crunching and balancing individual weapons that certain loadout styles, 'Mech choices and subsequently, playstyles (such as you outline above) could be rewarded and encouraged. Just check out Battlefield 3 for some examples of things that could be attempted. If PGI hasn't implemented such rewards by now, either they likely never will, or alternatively (which I sincerely hope and pray is the case), they simply haven't got the time and the resources to implement with a turnaround quick enough to placate their current playerbase.

That said, an MVP voted award would be awesome, if it could be implemented in a way that would not be abused, and I can certainly think of ways that it could, particularly if the reward is decent enough. That's the struggle - making it worth it to achieve, but not so amazing that it gets abused. Unfortunately, anything that the playerbase has control over is going to be exploited to the maximum possible.

the player voting certainly simplifies things.

as for troll-voters like "voting for the worst" who are taking a page from Howard Stern could be an issue.

but in the end a fellowship award could help lift us above the grind and put a smile on a few faces.

Voted yes as that was the closest to my own opinion.

However my fear is that if your not careful the votes could get too easily rigged by friends all voting for one of their number.

Surely a vote from an opposing team member who acknowledges your skill is a better guide? Chances of a friend of yours being on the OpFor is small but most Players are honorable enough to give kudos when its earned.

Perhaps both is the best way to go. Both teams say who is player of the match with Opposing side votes being 3X s valuable as friendly votes..?

I think you would see each premade voting for one of their own every time.

Might make more sense for the losing team to vote for the MVP on the winning team, as they might have a better idea of who ruined their day.

The game already is lacking in ways to keep track of your best games. games where you got the most kills, most damage, gained most xp or cbills, etc.

Kinda wish you could click a button to save those details.

I kinda like that idea. I mean it works fine in SWTOR so far. But as a difference I would rather make it not possible to vote for players that you queued with to keep it fair.
