I'm curious to know if anyone can answer how many mechs each faction in the inner sphere has? How many mechs are there amongst the clans? I'm curious of how many mechs can be "fielded" at a time.

I'm not an expert in this field, but I think this URL should help: http://www.sarna.net...ory:BattleMechs

I found something on Catalysts website.

INNER SPHERE GENERAL INFORMATION
With regards to weight distributions, there are some regional variations. House Liao’s CCAF and House Davion’s AFFS generally obey the average distribution ratios. However, House Kurita’s DCMS places a great deal of emphasis on operational mobility and as such favours the use of light mechs, while believing that medium mechs represent a useless compromise. House Steiner’s LCAF has reached the opposite conclusion: thinking the general answer to any problem is to throw more
weight at it, the Lyrans are perhaps the only force that employs the Charger as a scout mech with a straight face. Lastly, in the pre-Clan era House Marik’s FWLM (as well as its various provincial forces) strayed from the standard ratios, but due to supply shortages rather than a difference in doctrine; the Free Worlds League was chronically short of assault mechs, and in an attempt to compensate increased production of heavy mechs as much as possible.

The average distribution percentages are canon, as are the number of House regiments unless otherwise noted, but the varying regional distribution percentages are unofficial conjecture. However, I based any attempt to make the assignment tables reflect canon mech amounts (e.g. “there are less than 200 of these mechs left in service amongst the Great Houses”) on these figures.

referring to skylar, i am assuming those are just the mech regiments and it doesn't count vehicles and infantry regiments. these would be more plentiful than mechs, so those above numbers would be the minority of the armed forces. with infantry regiments being the most numerically superior.
assuming 120 per regiment at 3050, you are looking at about 2700 mechs for liao.
11880 for the combine
8300 for davion
6700 for marik
and 13400 for steiner.
that would leave a grand total of about 43 thousand mechs.
assuming each clan has 13 galaxies (this would actually be a pretty highball number. it goes off how many the ghost bears had during the bear combine war, and i am assuming that each of the other major clans would have similar numbers. but a lot of the smaller clans would be less than half of this. clan blood spirit for example.) that contained 4 clusters a piece(though a galaxy is supposed to have 5 they can have 3-5.). 15 * 5 * 4 * 13 * 17 = roughly 66000 mechs. and like i said, that is an EXTREME highball number. it assumes that all 17 remaining clans have equal strength roughly at the level of one of the largest, if not the largest clan.
also, this excludes elementals which would make up a galaxy or 2 across all the clans. also realize besides these 13 mech galaxies there are basically no other forces per clan.

So the clans all together have 66,000 (high ball) estimate of mechs alone? And yeah I know other forces are far far more numerous. I was just wondering an estimate number of mechs that are out there which you layed out pretty well. Thanks.

yeah, the clans other than hells horses do not use vehicles. so that is the grand total number of points they have. (point is either 1 mech, 5 elementals, or 2 aerospace fighters)

How many mechs?
Quote
Based on the numbers we get in the 20-Year Update, the Sphere has:
Federated Suns State Command: 104.66 (30 RCTs)
Lyran Commonwealth State Command: 154.33 (50 RCTs)
St. Ives Compact: 9.33 (1 RCT from each half of the FedCom)
DCMS: 99
FRR: 16.66
CCAF: 30
FWLM: 72.66
ComStar: 52 Regiments
The problem here is that some states don't actually uses the 108 'Mech model for its regiments (but if you go through ComStar's division composition it works out so close to 52*108 that it doesn't matter). The Lyrans and Suns further complicate matters by having RCTs that are larger than their usual formations. Not only that, but while each of those units is a Regiment on paper, they may be significantly understrength or, less frequently, a little overstrength by having a fourth battalion or attached command unit that gives them a few extra machines.
However, calculated at the following:
AFFS: Nominally 108 'Mechs, but in practise usually 120-132; 132 in an RCT
LCAF: 120; 132 in an RCT
FWLM: 108
St. Ives: 108
CCAF: 120
FRR: 108
DCMS: 108
We get:
AFFS: 12, 919.2
LCAF: 19, 080
St. Ives: 1, 055.64
DCMS: 10, 692
FRR: 1, 799.28
CCAF: 3, 600
FWLM: 7, 847.28
ComStar: 5, 616
Total: 62, 609.4
I would consider that to be the absolute maximum (even with some units being over strength) because at the time there would have been a lot more units with less than their full complement. I would consider something in the range of 90-95% of that figure (56, 348.46-59, 478.93) to be more likely, YMMV.
These numbers also include mercenary units. There's already enough maths going on here at 7am for me to not have much interest in removing them from the equations

now divide the number of mechs by twelve, and that is how many unions it would take to transport all said mechs.
5317 unions divided by 3 for jumpships (the most common jumpship is the invader class which can hold 3 dropships.)
so in order to transport all those mechs it would require about 1740 jumpships to transport all those mechs. (by canon there are around 2000 jumpships total, but that is fasanomics. in reality there would have to be between 20-30k jumpships to deal with 2 trillion people's trade.)
