For any of you who know what Optimus tech from Nvidia, and worse for you who have it: I think you might understand what I mean.

For internet surfing and everyday computer stuff, it uses a crappy little HD Family Gfx card.. (this includes using Diagnostic tools) when I'm gaming it switches to the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M which is more than a match for most anything out there.

I realized how badly this screws me when getting tech support for another game (which has some tanks in it...) and declared my problem was that my crappy little HD Family card was not sufficient.. the Beta thing used a Diagnostic tool as well.. so I'm certain it looks like I can't even load the mechbay ergo.. though the devs are too nice to change my Pending button to "Failed" I'm pretty sure my perfectly capable machine is in the dinosaur pile.

I don't know who to be angry at.. but I am angry.
(Nvidia for not creating a proactive way to recognize both cards?)
DirectX for not recognizing Optimus tech? (the other Diag tool.. DxDiag)
or the Mech Devs Diag tool for same above.

I don't think I'm going to bother checking my e-mail anymore for this.. and I recommend anyone else with Optimus tech in their laptop not bother with it either.

(Unless someone has some bettering news? I would LOVE to be wrong here..)

Sorry to hear about your woes, but if you really want beta access, just buy your way in. In my life, the phrase "If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all" rings true. Even at the best odds, I reliably choose the bad option. I feel like Wheatley from Portal 2 who was programmed to make bad decisions

Of course, I'll have to wait and see if my "Banned from Beta" extends to the Closed Beta that Founder's members gain access to on July 17th. That would be kinda funny to buy it and then login and get a "This account is banned from access to beta"

But people are ignorant if they think system requirements are not part of this selection.

Ihave the same problem as the OP. My laptops have duel (or tripple) graphics cards and the "defalt" one is either integrated or the basic Nvidia one but the "game" ones are awesome. I have been having the same worry myself and I am as yet unsure how this effects me. Here is hoping.

SHORT ANSWER no swearing allowed directly at someone.

Long answer there have been very few keys sent out for the amount of interest showed in the game. You are not a precious unique snowflake. Many of us have great machines and are still not in. Some have mid range machines and aren't in. We're all waiting, stop getting your panties in a wad over nothing. 1% of the potential forum users have gotten invites.

Personally I hope you never get an invite and are too poor for a founders pack.

To the OP: Interesting... never heard about this Optimus thingy from Nvidia. I'm assuming that you're using a laptop, just as I do, this might actually be more of a reason for being excluded from the closed beta. Still hoping laptops won't be too much of an issue, but I will buy me a new rig as soon as I have moved to the USA... no reason to spend money on something I won't take with me

d3 is not exactly the most demanding game. Anyway the issue with laptops usually boils down more to heat (and being overpriced since its much easier to make your own desktop than it is to make your own laptop) than performance, mainly because the consolization of gaming has held back the rapid advancement of pc hardware requirements we used to have. Confirmed that this "MWO" scanner does NOT detect the double graphics cards on laptops. SO offically they think I have "intergrated intel." I am so screwed if they consider this as part of their requirements. I'd ask them to actually look for the REAL card with their software but that isnt going to happen. Allowing players to update the beta profile with the actual requirements would be nice too. I have the Gforce GT 540 myself.

So what about it PGI? Will us laptop users just have to wait for the founders? Or do we still have a shot? (Especially gaming laptop rigs.)

I don't see what that has to do with my statement. Im well aware the game was ran on laptops at e3, i almost mentioned it in my post but then i thought "no, people wont feel the need to point this out because it doesn't directly relate to what im talking about". Why is there so much laptop hate? At the very least I do not see the problem with PGI either admitting that they do not care about this one requirement or letting laptop users slightly modify the beta profile to match the actual system config (since it is only a text file.)

Well, look at the OPs situation, theres a reason=P In general its just a better idea to make a desktop if you are planning on gaming, it just tends to work better. Theres more to it than system requirements and such. Laptops are full of screwy proprietary things. If you build a PC out of well known and well used parts not only do you know exactly what you are getting, but you avoid situations like this. There are a certain kind of 'laptop' which are basically just condensed desktops, mostly used for people who go to LAN parties alot and want something easier to lug around. They tend to have heat issues, and battery lives so short you may as well not even call them laptops. Thats sort of a middle ground, i can see how if you really travel a lot one of those could be alright, but in general its just better to have a nice big spacious case with good airflow and standard parts. A laptop is, therefore, only used for gaming by people who have legitimate reasons for them (a small percentage) or people who just dont know better (the larger percentage). These reasons result in there being a (justified) stigma against laptops.
