With Launch Day now only about a month away...

When does the marketing and advertising begin to promote the launch of MWO?

Are there any launch day special signing bonuses for New Players or Returning Players we can
tell our friends about and hopefully get them excited about to give the game a go?

for all the bs we have gone through they should hand out death snails like they're tampons

This is a great question, did you try to get it into the current AtD? If they have any launch promos I want to know ahead of time so I can participate!! Things like the PCGamer skin, or Coconut Monkey, or NVidia Dawn... maybe even free premium time? Definitely need to try to get this in the next AtD!

Ronan yeah I was thinking PC Gamer for sure as they have been running pretty regular advertorials for MWO... I already had a question in for the last AtD but will try and get it into the next one... the window for asking questions is quite tight so please feel free to ask it in case I miss it but I will try.

From an Advertising / Marketing perspective this kind of info should be starting right about now

I am so excited for launch. I have been anxiously awaiting a battletech with meta game content since Kesmai first promised it in the late 90's. You would have thought that at $6.99 an hour to play and games running 24x7 they would have had the funds to do it, but they folded up with no meta game...not even a failed launch.

Anyway, I hear UI2 is not going to make the launch. I would LOVE to get a list of what they think will be ready.

I guess they’ll start campaigning at the start of September. Hopefully UI 2.0 is in its final testing stages by then and we’ll see it released. With Community warfare to follow the week after? Hopefully Tutorials are in at the end of August, and 3PV in within a week or two. ????

There’s 5 weeks left… Each week will need to bring something big and new.
Week1(this week): 3PV
Week2: Tutorials, Cryengine Update
Week3: HSR improvements, DX11
Week4: UI2.0 and Gameplay/Weapon balances
Week5: Community warfare, further balancing, UI2.0 bug fixes.

Gosh, not a lot of time left. Looking at how much was done the past few months, vs what needs to be done within these next few weeks???
I feel like PGI is my once old self in school, and I’m watching myself procrastinate on essays and leaving studying to the last minute.

And where did you hear this? As far as we know, CW phase 1 is what marks the launch, and CW requires UI 2.0. Therefore UI 2.0 is coming out for launch.

Aye, we've clearly been the subject of torture and mistreatment. We've definitely greatly suffered, and moreso we were FORCED to endure this torture, as playing MWO is not a voluntary act.

I know that if I don't play my mandatory 5 hours a day, regardless of the state of the game, PGI will detonate my slave collar. So even if I didn't like the state of MWO, I HAD to play it, and PGI needs to apologize for the pain it has caused me.

I would expect a pretty good launch trailer for the game and UI 2.5 since 2.0 will be broken. Maybe they'll also release the Madcat I've been posting pics of.

They have 4 weeks left and up to ~4 patches. I don't really have my hopes up for anything but if they don't have some cards up their sleeve it going to be very unfortunate.

The last thing PGI wants is to have a large well advertised launch that coincides with the release of buggy code for UI2 and CW and on top of that have the servers crash from too many new players. Perfect storm situation. Their fingers are crossed and if the new code works flawlessly( yea right) dont expect much in the way of advertisement more then what already exists.

The name of the game is go slow and get it right. let the launch date slip a week or 2 as needed. grow population steadily, no load spikes. if you **** someone off chances are your not going to get them back. so expect lots of place holder systems for CW. i expect it to be a disappointment.... it will receive exactly no beta testing + a week or so.

CW i expect will be basic map of the IS with people fighting over a planet for accumulated victories..... first side with a 1000 wins get the planet and you cant counter attack for 1-2 days.... range of attack is one jump only so no deep striking luthien on launch day.

loyalty points are for getting clan gear/ better stuff per faction.

They have cheesed off many Founders, who would in fact return if we saw some sign of movement back towards original design goals / promises.

Seriously.

Drop in a "real" gameplay mode? I'd at least be back to check it out.

Remove "ghost heat" and implement some type of heat scale? I'd at least be back to check it out.
Post a blog about "Hey, we hear you" and at least just acknowledge, just say "message received" and some of us would at the least let up and see how they respond.

Most of us are in fact reasonable people and know they cannot fix everything or make every single one of us happy. They don't need to do each and every thing we are asking for (as a lot of things being bandied about do, in fact, conflict.)

I don't envy them sorting through all this to find the kernel of truth. I don't.

But I do wish they would do something to address the many Founders who have completely lost faith. And something not dismissive like "Oh, they just have beta fatigue."

PGI has, in the form of the permission to make a Mechwarrior Game, a license to print money if they can do it right.

Sorry but didnt they say (a while ago now) there would be a big push and marketing / advertising drive for launch? Which would mean we should be in the middle of it now as that needs a few weeks build up to be effective.

Pretty sure they said it more than once. I guess that was their position at the time... :P

Shame the September games magazines are all out now and not a whiff of anything.
