In order to figure out who is targeting these miners, we need to figure out who has something to gain in this godforsaken stretch of space... Could it be that someone is trying to intimidate the miners to leave while they build up territory for a new faction?

Nothing ever goes away. Whether it has a source on Terra or the far flung corners of the Periphery, events like this come back to haunt us. The way this incident has resurfaced suggests that it may be of more import than I first believed.
Disabling this station was important to someone.

I still say it'd be epic for those crafty devs to have the Clan Invasion hit the Liao/Marik/Davion side of the Sphere instead of the Stiener/FRR/Kurita end.
Outreach would make a fantastic Tukayyid!

They wouldn't even come that far. Overstretching an allready overstretched supply line is never a good idea.

Hmm... the namesake Snowden itself was deployed in the Hyades Cluster, which is a fairly large area of space containing the capital system of the Taurian Concordat, Flannagan's Nebula, and several border planets of the Federated Suns and Cappellan Confederation. I'd be surprised to see pirate activity so close to a capital, though sabotage from another major power (the Taurian Concordat has had a rocky history with the Federated Suns and the Magistracy of Canopus, and while I doubt they'd be a prioroty for the Cappellans, Romana Liao certainly seems to take after her impressively devious father). The general purpose of the Snowden stations seems to be deployment to regions bordering the Successor States, though most of the expansion of the Taurian Concordat from the collapse of the Star League

appears to have been in rimward and spinward directions, the spinward colonization particularly coming into closer proximity with the Pirate's Haven Cluster and the Tortuga Dominions. It's possible TMM has been deploying well-armed stations in these regions due to the prevalence of Pirate raids, though I question why Pirates would choose sabotage over a direct raid - a distraction tactic for a subsequent raid, perhaps?
I do have to say that the whole situation reminds me of the Jolly Roger Affair, though that operation ended in such a dismal falure 45 years earlier that I doubt Comstar would repeat the attempt.

I agree. With things like this happening to mining and prospecting elements in both Canopian and Taurian space, there is definitely something major afoot.
The 10,000 C-Bill question is: Who is behind this, and what are they hoping to gain?

If we could get in the beta (hint hint), then maybe we could investigate!
