My creedence clearwater pandora station - it works for war movies, right?
MechWarrior 2/GBL/Mercs soundtracks - the MW2 soundtrack is the bestest game soundtrack of ever.
When I run my spider I hear this in my head -
I got 5 kills and 760 damage in my spider while looping that song and having a HECK of a time.

Overall though, I am still a fan of the Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack. It is sort of a cross between a techno/tribal sort of sound. Very unique and very cool.

Me, I like the MechAssault music, the MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries music, and select tracks from MW2 and GBL.
Oh, and "War Machine".

There are times where I will listen to music while I play though.
Even though Mechwarrior 2 introduced me to the Mechwarrior series, I generally don't listen to it when I play MWO. Mainly because I felt the music in MW2 was meant for the levels that they were in so it's a bit harder to hear them outside of those levels. Besides, I don't need to tease myself with the idea that there aren't any clan mechs yet.
Though considering I always played MW2 in "image enhancement mode" because it made everything wireframes, and I loved this theme when piloting slow mechs, this is probably the theme I'd play the most for MWO. I associate this track with direwolves and timberwolves in a dense city with lots of lrms and lasers.

MechAssault 2 music is pretty nice for MWO. However, Mechassault 1's music I just can't listen to in MWO, I can only listen to it in games that feel very fast.
Skin the Cat battle
Tank Rush Icarus battle
Outside of mechwarrior music, I usually listen to stuff with guitars (not accoustic ones though). However, sometimes I like to play classical music as irony in MWO because classical music plus giant robots blasting each other to bits is hilarious to me.(did this much more often after playing through Saints Row 3 since there weren't many stations without people singing). I sometimes listen to electroni/techno/dubstep/whatever, there's soo many genres that I don't know what each type is and haven't had any music experts point out which is which to me yet. I almost never listen to music with people singing. To me it's just like a person trying to talk during a movie, you just don't do that.
Usually I listen to stuff for a few weeks from another game, then go somewhere else. It can be old music that can come from old NES games, to some newer games, doesn't matter where.
Current flavor of these few weeks is music from Killing Floor (you may want to play the game before listening to the music), particularly the music tracks Dirge Disunion, and Dirge Repulse, Infectious Cadaver but just about every track is pretty awesome. My favorite is the Patriarch's theme, but I avoid playing that outside the game because I love making the track as an awesome reward after I've been killing zombies for about an hour...... And so I have something cool to listen to when he decides to take more than 1 minute to get to the team before murdering the squad.
A few music tracks that I like to listen to that are from other games:
Global Agenda's Recursive Singularity: Favorite track that only played in one mission and is one of my favorite tracks in video games.

Quake 2's Descent into Cerberon. Quake 2, and MW2 were the only two games I would play for a few years when I was a kid and because of that, when I think of one, I usually think of the other one half of the time. I blame Quake 2's music for my love of guitars. I'd be crazy to not include at least one track in this list.

(Global) Maple Story's Crimsonwood Interior - The only other MMORPG i played for more than a couple months, Just I would always stop playing cause it's such a grindfest, but come back cause the core gameplay is just really fun (you can practicly get to level 70 in a day now if you know what you are doing, which used to take over half a year to do). This theme has such really rockin guitars. I'm not sure how some people see this as a remix of Castlevania's SoTN's tragic prince aside from the fact that there's a 5 second long part that sounds the same, the rest sounds nothing alike. Tragic Prince is still good, but I could never play it to MWO.

Xenoblade's you will know our names - Pretty rockin music. Never played the game, but people keep asking for Shulk for SSB4 all the time when I hear this game mentioned....

Persona 4's The Almighty theme. Rockin music, that is also relaxing, and I think it goes along somewhat well with mechs. I've never played the game though, even if it sounds silly.
watch?v=FGUGAHTPcak
Random Gunz track - This is the only theme I could realisticly play in MWO, all the others make me feel required to run fast, and run on walls doing crazy aerial moves, or it's one of the few tracks I don't like.
watch?v=UV7jyb65bcY
Thunderforce 4's Stage 8 theme. Never played this game, but I love this track a lot
watch?v=3o37T4JAoKY
La-Mulana's Giant's Rage. I just really love the old-school boss theme feel of this track. Funny thing is the game was made in 2005 (remake was 2012)
watch?v=W9Yi6wDIIU4
Nostale's BGM 7 (Shanera Dungeon) - The rest of the game has really really relaxing music, but this one sounds somewhat good for stomping around in mechs with. I suggest not playing the game though, grindfest (and the game that killed my mood for MMORPGs and leveling in general)
watch?v=ZYMtWubQ6hE
Castlevania's: SoTN: Long library. Remember when I sometimes play classical music ironicly? I can't keep a straight face with this theme playing while playing MWO.
watch?v=u24iWLJ2fO4
Total Annihilation's The March Until Death. The other game I loved that had giant mechs in it, and one of the 4 RTS games (Red alert and AoE 1 &2) I played for when I was in my RTS mode. Though this is the only track I could really listen to while playing MWO. The rest of the soundtrack sounds really cheesy outside of the game.
watch?v=QAB59q43pbg
Metroid Prime 2's Quadraxis theme. If we ever get a quad-mech in MWO, I know what theme I will want to play. We'll probably never get any quads though, and if we do, we'll be tiny compared to other mechs (but wreaking havoc on infantry/vehicles with it would be just fine though!)
watch?v=UF183gVG0dc
Some of that electronicy music i was talking about are some of the following. When I listen to this type of music, it doesn't matter what game I'm playing. Placing this stuff at the end because while I love them a lot and would listen to them during MWO, I don't think many people would like them.
Syrsa's Targnil
watch?v=JghZAU84ItY
Mayhem's SPL runner - The buildup, it just keeps better and better over time.
watch?v=w-DWGChvu6o
DeadMau5's Moar ghost's N stuff - This theme caused me to look into electronicy music more at one point in time. Really relaxing theme.
watch?v=bXWk-aInsow
Yes, I did pretty much go through my favorites list of music. Though I narrowed it down to only things I'd like to listen to when playing MWO, and things that were indeed, favorites, and not more than 1 track from a game.
