Screen will freeze once the match is well underway. I still have control over the keyboard, mech movement, chat, etc. Of course my screen is frozen at this point so I'm running in circles.
Alt+Tab out works sometimes, however this is occurring almost every match.

This is happening to me a lot too now since patch. Very annoying.

This sounds familiar, but just to be sure:
Send a ticket to support with as much information as you can, such as your dxdiag, if you haven't already.

A workaround is to Ctrl-alt-del, then hit "Escape". That will jog your game back into playability.

Most of the time Alt+Tab out and back fixes it.
It's the only odd bug it happens to me from time to time, seems to be related to some angles in certain map positions.
