It would be immensely useful to be able to "target" a friendly. There are two big reason why this would be useful.

First off, unless you're in a 12-man drop, you have at minimum, 8 teammates with completely unknown loadouts. Sometimes people volunteer their loadouts (usually LRM boats) but that is not particularly common and is cumbersome to type. Some mechs make good brawlers or snipers so it's hard to guess their loadouts. Is that Stalker a PPC boat, LRM boat, or is it bristling with lasers and SRMS? Your teammates loadout will have a direct effect on how you decide to charge into the battle.

And secondly, it would be nice to see your teammates rag doll so you might be able to get into a better position to help, such as blocking a weak side torso. It would also help you spot a lost cause. When your teammate is seconds from falling, there is no reason trying to rush out and save him.

I just find it silly that we can gather more info on our enemies than we can on teammates. Obviously this would not be an issue if everyone could easily voice communicate with eachother. Typing simply isn't sufficient and basically impossible once the real battle starts.

I would implement this by using the same space on the HUD as the enemy target info, simply map the friendly targeting to a different key ('Q' perhaps). So at any given time, you could either be targeting an enemy or a friendly.

Well it used to be the W key targeted a friendly but there's no joystick support so we need that key to drive.

I like to see what my teammates are carry in their mechs, im thinkin something about holding for 5 sec on friendly mech and you see report where enemy reports appears when you targeting them :)

Just ask me, I´ll gladly tell loadout and intentions to my teammates, no problem in typing a few words.

But some "comfort" function to see friendly mech loadouts would be b@ller(=very nice to have).

What they need to do is make keybinding support alt and control keys, so you could bind "target teammate" to alt+r or something.

I agree that we should be able to see the loadouts of other members of our lance; I also like the idea of being able to see their Mech representation (damage model) so that we can reinforce those that need it most. I would include one proviso, that is that when locked on to a friendly, our weapon systems are disengaged. This is a safety recommendation to prevent friendly fire by accident.

I would also like the ability to target a friendly's target, ie squad mate or commander is attacking a mech so I want to be able to target too with one button, not have to cycle and look for it. I understand the triangle system, but a button press to unify targets would be convenient.

Or pugger teammates.
