So like a handful of games with simple control schemes.
Q, E, R and other keys in the same general area have been used for targeting since the first mechwarriors and Earthseige. It's a long history of mech combat games. This is not an MMO, it doesn't need no stinking MMO keybinds.

Yes, because a MMO shooter is the same as an MMO RPG with constant target switching...

and other games do use TAB for scores, not just this one.

It's called Muscle Memory.
And I still haven't found out what binding sets the "Show your teammates names and health on the battle grid" again...I must have remapped the key that did it at some point, and the tip just comes up saying "Press (unbound) to show teammate names and their health on the battle grid"

Because we're all elitists, and we wouldn't want to make it easier for people coming in from other games to have an easier time adapting.
God forbid anyone who's never played the other mechwarrior computer games but HAS played TT for a long time should play THIS one...they must all be ostracized and called Noobs.
Loser.

It's these knee jerk rage threads that don't help these forums.

Actually, no, it's not a "moot point" - There ARE bindings that aren't on the binding list that can be unbound (like "Show teammate names and damage on the battlegrid" which I must have unbound at some point * because the "tip" for it reads "press (unbound) to show your teammate's health and names on the battle grid" and there are no unbound bindings on the options list.
So Yes, this is a bug in the game, and I'm SUGGESTING that it be fixed, and a bunch of elitists come into the thread essentially screaming "NO! THOU SHALT NOT CHANGE THY HOLY KEYBINDS! PERSECUTE! KILL THE HERETIC!"
* (I think it must have originally been "M", since I rebound the "B" for Battle Grid to "M" for "Map")

Shooters have never had target locking and target tracking. No FPS game I have ever played has that, especially on the PC. I don't recall Battlefield Bad Company 2 having a targeting system, neither of the Borderlands games has a targeting system, you have to aim manually. I am not sure exactly where the OP is getting this whole "shooters have tab targeting" thing from, because MechWarrior is the only shooter franchise I can recall from memory having the ability to cycle targets, but that is as much part of the lore as it is the game mechanics. Having played several MMORPG's over the course of the last decade, I can safely say those types of games have tab targeting because all the other keys have some other function involving your character, whether they open various pages, inventories or maps, but shooters do not. This game does not need tab targeting, however the lack of default keybinding for both forward and reverse targeting kind of irks me.

There is a listing for the show friendly info you are talking about, there has to be because I remapped it to the 'insert' key. I play all games left handed, a bad habit I picked up many years ago playing MW2, joystick in right hand, mouse in left, then one day while gaming with a window open for a little fresh air the wind changed direction and Ive been stuck that way ever since.
I'd tell you what the entry it is but Im at work. The only keymap I have had to manually edit the keybinds for is to use my mousewheel for zoom, which for whatever reason the game wont let you do through the UI.
If I remember to Ill have a look when I get home.
edited to correct keymap reference.

And Tab is by default mapped to Scoreboard, which is also in the keymappings six positions up from the 'set throttle 10%, 20% etc settings.
So remap your keys and go have fun. Or not. Choice is yours. And I wont tell you thanks for playing. Ill just think it real loud:)
