[color=cyan]I'm not sure what to say here, really. Some obvious things come to mind - I never would have guessed we'd surpass 100,000 donated with 9 days to go.

I have never been more proud to be a part of a gaming group, of any type. You guys came out, and you donated. And not just a few of you, over 10,000 of you. I am humbled, shocked, happy, and also sad, that we lost such a little MechWarrior, our little Sarah. From her loss, though, we have given back. She is our catalyst for positive change and hope for the future. Maybe this WILL do it, maybe this money will buy the machine that causes the final piece of the puzzle to be found. Maybe the left over change from that machine buys a scientist the coffee she drinks every morning that causes her 'eureka!' moment that finds the cure.

I have no way of knowing, but I do know that you guys came through to make that chance possible. You said 'no, I'm not going to sit here, I am going to do this tiny thing that will snowball into something huge.' And it has.

You guys are making national news. International news. Tech blogs, newspapers, forums, everywhere. People saw what this community did, and they see caring, love, and hope. They see positive action.

Sarah is our beacon, and curing that awful disease is our goal, and you all - all of you, even if you couldn't afford it and promised to donate later to cancer research - have put us over 100,000 dollars closer to that goal.

I am proud, humbled, and overwhelmed by the support of each and every one of you.

It is a pleasure and honour to be counted among your numbers.

Despite all the criticism, I appreciate how responsive PGI was to this request. I'm not sure I will ever really run the mech, but I am more than happy to give to a good cause.

I've always told me to never run lights. I've never piloted anything below a Cicada, albeit I basically own everything from those to Atlases. Now with the Sarah that has shown in my hangar almost 1 week ago I've discovered a new way of play MWO and I've gladly unlocked mastery on the three Jenners right today.

I hope Sarah's parents will be proud, there's over 10.000 people that are playing in her memory and for the memory of all the relatives, friends and beloved ones that were took away by that puny, subtle, unstoppable, useless and painful disease.

Actually I hate to get political but cancer research isn't just about money at the moment. Politics plays a huge part in what scientists can study when it comes to finding potentially effective medicines. Currently because the US government schedules cannabis as having no medicinal value, it cannot be studied despite the fact that multiple studies have already been published highlighting it's potential in finding a cure for cancer: http://www.wakingtim...s-cures-cancer/


This CNN documentary that was recently released goes further into detail:

Key points from the CNN documentary:

• Dr Sanjay Gupta actually says "cannabis could cure cancer";
  
• More scientists saying "we want to cure cancer but regulation is stopping us".

This documentary provides a balanced and informative view on the current regulatory regime and I hope more people will realise that America's 'corporate oligarchy' with big pharma and it's hands in politicians wallets is restricting progress into cancer research.

Credit goes to the people who got the movement going. Right off the bat, there were a lot of skeptics (nothing against people who said no to the idea, they were also concerned with honouring Sarahs memory in a good way), so we should definitely be thanking the first people who started threads and really campaigned for the idea to materialize.

As the movement began to pick up speed, a lot of credit goes to PGI for listening to the majority and quickly making a choice, regardless of the controversy, and handling this charity in a way that, in my eyes, left no doubt of their good intentions. I think even some skeptics were assured by this fact and persuaded to donate.

And needless to say, thoughts go out to the family. I saw a picture of Sarah in a news article recently and while I was again struck by sadness, it did comfort me that we had done this for her and for the cause.

I was taking a bit of an MWO break but I'll be here on the 23rd for it.

Whatever else I ever think about the MWO community (we are a contentious bunch) this was a Good Thing. The community response has been just awesome and pushed a nifty idea into a significant contribution.
