This one's better: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...eapon_heatscale
The official post does not include the grouping of the weapons, which is something very important.

That's quite nice, although I fail to see why it wastes so much real estate to upwards of twelve LRM20s. Otherwise it's pretty cool, and I wasn't aware of it until now.

Forget the website, most importantly it has to be clearly visible in the game itself. On the one hand, PGI argues that only a small portion of the players ever visit the forums whenever the public opinion is against them. On the other hand, such vital information is not provided in the game at all. Nothing in the game indicates there is such a thing as heat scaling.

That's because our devs are a bunch of amateur newb's. I am hoping one day they will realize this and fix their joke of change and put in something that helps with the issues and they can support with in-game information.

Honestly this lacks the AC/2 penalty and the explanation that it only occurs when you do NOT alpha strike.

Like a lower heat capacity to make boating the high heat, high damage weapons to any degree nearly impossible? Lower capacities would also limit how many of any weapon you can fire at once. A straight cut 30 is more limiting than 10 SHS in MWO (as that's 30 base + 10). What sorts of alpha striking could you do then? Almost none.

Well you start out by adding real heat penalties... at less than max heat. Its been discussed a million times; start slowing mechs down, blur the hud, maybe slow the rof of weapons as you get hotter.. There are a large number of ways to address it other than what they implemented that are easier to communicate in game. I am also a bit of a fan to add a slight random to aiming; or removing/reworking armor sections. Pinpoint with armor sections just doesn't work well.

agreed..there is quite a bit of fail going on at basic levels tickets and support another, where images are asked for in most cases and yet there still isn't an in game screen shot option, have to go to fraps or similar

There has been a screenshot option for a few weeks now. Default key is Print Screen, save folder is in your User directory.

There's one weapon that's had a penalty long before the heat penalty system was ever announced. Flamers. Ever noticed you can never sink them faster than they generate heat? Even with 27 DHS, eventually the heat of 1 flamer will have you skyrocket to 100%.
